Beware of applying computer-vision metrics to microscopy image of biological samples. At best, you fool only yourself. @SuperResoluSian #I2K2024 #BioImageAnalysis

Looks like you know our favourite supplier all too well 😂. It was indeed upwards of £150 for the replacement!

Friday poll: How much does this replacement part cost? Clue: it's bought from a well-known optics company. (I can't put a photo and a poll in the same post, but poll is in first reply)

I think Hopfield has the best vision about what physics is. It is not about the object you study, but rather the way you study it quantitatively.

Great chat with an enthusiastic undergrad student after my numerical physics lecture. Asked me how I learned to program and I described self-teaching C in my bedroom as a teenager. "So what was it like when everyone was phone phreaking and things?". Dude, I'm not THAT old 😂

It's the first day of the undergraduate term, and the sump has dropped out of the air compressor in my research lab - oil everywhere. How's YOUR monday going!?

It didn't take long: our PhD students have added this "oil leak" warning sign to the door of our (fish) microscopy lab 😂. (They've also identified that it only seems to be the condensate drain bottle that has ruptured on the compressor so I'm hoping @Thorlabs can replace that)
