If players have to hit into an area smaller than the tightest dispersion circle of the best players in order for the course not to punish their shot, the course is no longer indentifying skill. At that point, by definition, players are being sorted almost entirely by luck.

My prediction is that by Sunday we’re going to realize the men’s US Open can’t be at Shinnecock anymore because they either have to make the course a cakewalk in case there’s weather or make it beyond unfair.

That was kind of like the 2024 World Series. 4-1 but really compelling games and the winning team got all the key moments.

Maybe instead of banning people from outside of 150 miles from buying tickets, the Spurs should ban all the people who sold their tickets in the lower level tonight lol

I was walking home from work a few years ago and bent over to tie my shoe. Ended up waiting at the crosswalk next to some giant guy decked out in Sacramento Kings gear. Just walking himself back to wherever. Turned out it was Mike Brown. 😂

I found something that should be illegal.
As seen on Ticketmaster, sales for Game 5 of the NBA finals “will be restricted to customers residing within a 150-mile radius of Frost Bank Center” in San Antonio

A new reason why I can’t get in a soccer is that if not for the World Cup driving up prices in Los Angeles I would be at Bel Air Country Club for the Curtis cup this weekend.

A strong argument could and should be made that every employer should be required to offer all employees stock in the same manner the CEO receives annual stock awards or options, warrants ,etc Whatever percentage of salary/earnings the CEO gets in shares, so should every employee

Right now, at the same time. Sunset is 61°F, while the Mission is 71°F. One of the things that makes San Francisco special is that everyone can find a neighborhood that's just right.

We are 39 Elons in debt. This years deficit along is almost two Elons. Maybe referring to it that way will make people care.

LPGA Hall of Famer Juli Inkster is still breaking records at age 65! Inkster teamed up with Angel Yin this week for the Dow Championship, and they'll be playing the weekend. JoAnne Carner held the record for oldest player to make a cut at 65 years, 26 days at the 2004 Chick-Fil-A Charity Championship. Today Inkster is 65 years, 11 months and 19 days. "She comes and sees me in the desert, and we hang out. I just really enjoy being around her, and I like her energy. Well, less energy, but I like the way she just – she's fun."

Someday we are going to look back on how hard we are screwing up AI from a government standpoint and, if we’re not swamped by paying off 40 Elons worth of debt we will have to do something about it.
Because this is happening to Anthropic, the temptation for many will be to say: Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. They have relentlessly raised the regulatory temperature in Washington by inviting far-reaching controls of frontier models. They made this bed and now they have to lay in it. But this decision by the Trump administration should not be judged on a desire for payback politics, but on the merits, and specifically what it means for America's broader AI objectives. In that regard, this action is truly outrageous. How exactly is the government planning on even going about verifying everyone who uses this specific model to ensure compliance? That alone raises huge flags. Between the latest Executive Order shifting more control to NSA, and the recent chatter about quasi-nationalization / equity stakes, and now this action, we are talking about a significant escalation in the politicization of AI and centralization of control over advanced computation in this country. And this is all being done by an administration that had previously made acceleration and winning the great AI race a priority. We're moving backwards now.

The Cardinals roll into town with just all-time classic uniforms and the #MnTwins are out there looking like some kids 5th grade art project in these AWFUL city connects. Truly one of the worst things the @MLB has ever done and an afront to a beautiful game. 😂

Defending equipment companies over golf’s most legendary courses is such a bizarre hill. Like hey they had to clown out Aronimink and can barely even play Merion but that’s cool b/c Titleist is selling a ton of Pro V1X Left Arrow Blue Dot Alignment Tour 12s.
Distance is a skill. Rolling the ball back will make distance more important. Andy, Geoff, no laying up, and all the rest of the rollback crowd… I’d be happy to debate you on this topic anytime and on any platform you want.

You could confiscate every dollar from Elon Musk and not even balance this year’s federal budget, not even considering the incalculable billions state and local governments spend on these problems without solving them. There’s your moral failure.
It is a moral failure of our country that we changed the rules to create a trillionaire while doing nothing about the 771,000 homeless and over 18 million who do not have enough to eat.

I eat Aaron Peskin's hate for breakfast. Guys, we're winning. It feels good. Aaron Peskin is no public servant. He was all along just a grifter trying to protect his views at the expense of the people. We are the real people powered movement of San Francisco.

Completely agree with Geoff that we are in the “steroids era of golf” It’s a shame on many levels but mostly for the players who I believe are better but we actually don’t know how much better because they have equipment that has diluted so much of the challenge of the game.
After watching the women take on Riviera at the U.S. Women's Open, @GeoffShac reflected on how modern equipment has diminished both shot-making and stylistic variety in the men's game. You can listen to or watch @AndyTFE's full conversation with Geoff on The Fried Egg Golf Podcast.
