I’m a researcher and did 3 documentaries on missing people that our movies went to #1 in the world. Missing 411, Missing 411 the hunted, missing 411 the ufo connection. I have documented 425 people missing in national parks through archival research. I sent the park service a Freedom of information act request for a list of missing people from Yosemite and from their entire system. They responded back they don’t keep lists of missing people, but if I wanted a list of people from Yosemite it would cost me $34,000, if I wanted a list from their entire system, $1,400,000. Three years later through dogged research I wrote a book covering all 100 missing person cases in Yosemite, 8 months later the park service released their only list of missing people, on Yosemite!!! They have refused to release a report on missing person Stacy Arras in Yosemite. They have released 90% of all reports we have FOIAd, but not this one. The Special agent in the park service having this report stated I’d never see it. He knew I was a retired police officer but still talked to me like I was human waste. It’s classified as a missing person case and the incident is 50 years old, why not release it. I applied for a film permit in the park 3 times and was denied every time. Each time the park service rep was rude and abusive, losing our paperwork over and over. They don’t want these stories told and they want to charge us for work they’ve done. The park service is divided into regions. Park service special agents are the police detectives and they are assigned to a region with a special agent in charge of each region. Every special agent has files on missing people. One email from the special agent to his agent in charge listing their missing person cast, then forwarded to headquarters, you miraculously have a list of missing people. The list needs: Name Date of incident Location Two sentences outlining circumstances Agent assigned We need to get this done!
