Excited to share our latest work from first author @PatrickWoida. Using a novel surface display platform for expression of split TurboID, we discovered that CYLD is recruited to the Listeria surface via the effector InlC and that it supports cell-to-cell spread
Proximity labeling of the Listeria monocytogenes surface reveals pathogen control of a host deubiquitinase biorxiv.org/content/10.64898… #biorxiv_micrbio

Thrilled to share our latest story from postdoc @sit_brandon! Using a functional genetic screen, he discovered an unexpected way that Rickettsia relies on the host to stabilize the Sca2 surface protein that drives pathogen motility and virulence.

Thanks @LillianWEden for the excellent write-up about our work!
Studying the pathogen R. parkeri, researchers in the Lamason Lab discovered the first evidence of extensive and stable interkingdom contacts between a pathogen and a eukaryotic organelle @JCellBiol news.mit.edu/2025/kingdoms-c…

We are excited to kick off the new year with a new publication from the lab!
Acevedo-Sánchez et al. @lamasonlab @MITBiology characterize a novel interkingdom contact site between the ER and a cytosolic bacterial pathogen. They report that these bacteria–ER contacts (BERCs) require the tethering proteins VAPA and VAPB. hubs.la/Q031sGkq0 #Microbiology

More publication alerts from the lab! The final version ( some new data) of our paper using BONCAT to identify novel Rickettsia parkeri secreted effectors is out @NatureComms. nature.com/articles/s41467-0…
Thrilled to share our latest preprint! Most of the Rickettsia secretome is a mystery, and 1st author Allen Sanderlin pioneered the use of BONCAT in this obligate intracellular pathogen to solve this problem, uncovering many new effectors largely unique to this pathogen.

Ever wonder how to engineer Mtb to deliver heterologous cargo to the phagosome? Look no further!!! After trying many strategies over 6 years, we figured out a strategy. (1/10)
