As earlier noted, a significant West Coast heatwave will build in the coming days, persisting at least 7-10 days. A strong & at least somewhat persistent ridge will bring war-to-hot conditions West Coast wide. Heat will be most anomalous in PacNW, but will also be present in CA.

The ongoing record-breaking heat wave in the West will continue while expanding across the Central U.S. through the weekend. Based on preliminary data, there have been around 50 March high temperature records broken since March 17 and more than 150 daily high temperature records broken. Record setting temperatures are expected to continue over the next several days. Most areas will see temperature departures of 25 to 35 degrees higher than normal for this time of year. However, some locations in the central Plains on Saturday could see departures exceed 40 degrees from normal! Overnight low temperatures will also be well above average, providing little relief from the heat. The early time of year, prolonged nature of this heat wave, and limited seasonal acclimation will increase the risk of heat impacts especially among sensitive populations or those without effective cooling. Adjust plans to limit strenuous outdoor activities to early morning hours, drink plenty of fluids, and seek air conditioned spaces. For more heat safety tips visit: weather.gov/heat

Prepare now 🥵
🪭Much hotter temperatures expected next week🪭 Much above normal temperatures in the upper 80s to 90s are expected across the region next week as a prolonged heatwave shapes up. If you're planning on spending time outside - take plenty of breaks and stay hydrated. #CAwx

Weather West update on a prolonged and very likely record-breaking March heatwave in the western U.S. that will begin Thursday in some areas & actually not reach its peak for another 7-10 days in some spots. This forecast is truly extraordinary for March. weatherwest.com/archives/437…

Truckee Tahoe, California 📈🏔️ 11.5" of precipitation ... assuming 10:1 ratio of snowfall to liquid, that's 115 inches or about 10-feet of snowfall. ❄️ But temperatures support higher ratios ... so let's say 10 to 15 feet of snowfall in next 10-days
