For months, I spoke to 3 Sudanese women about the #Sudan war. In anticipation for the 1 year mark of this devastating war, I tried to tell the story of the country through their eyes.

Turns out that "mowing the lawn" wasn't a retired Israeli strategy after all: it was just recalibrated to new levels and widened to engulf the entire region.
What Netanyahu is saying/promising is that Israel will continue to go through “rounds” with Iran just as it has for years with Hamas and Hezbollah. This is the opposite of security and stability.

For the first time, Israel has issued forced displacement orders for Tyre’s historic Christian quarter over alleged Hezbollah activity.
The Lebanese army & local officials already swept the quarter last week and denied any Hezbollah presence there.
Not even expelled in 2006, this quarter was the final safe haven for residents trying to wait out periodic bombardments. Not to mention its Christian residents who must now grapple with forced displacement — breaking their sense of security and no doubt that of border villages further south who were given assurances they’d be left alone.

As I wrote in Jan, Washington sees #Sudan purely as a tussle between Saudi and UAE, not on its own terms.
This further complicates the search for a peaceful resolution to the war. It might be easier for Sudanese to sit in a room than the Gulfies, esp right now.

The Sudanese Embassy in Cairo has confirmed the death of 64-year-old Sudanese citizen Hamed Ali Adam Musa under highly contentious circumstances. Musa passed away directly after being transported to the embassy headquarters by Egyptian authorities, who were seeking emergency documentation to facilitate his immediate deportation back to war-torn Sudan.
While the embassy’s official press release refrained from detailing the exact medical cause of death, local sources confirmed that Musa, a registered refugee, had been swept up in a series of aggressive immigration crackdowns executed by Egyptian police targeting foreign nationals and undocumented refugees.
The incident coincides with reports from distraught Sudanese families in Egypt, who claim that authorities have initiated mass expulsions from Cairo police stations directly to the Wadi Halfa border crossing in northern Sudan.

Iran's leverage may have prevented an Israeli attack on Beirut, but as @safieddine00 argues, it also preserved the present status quo in south Lebanon: The April 16 'ceasefire' under which Israeli air strikes and demolitions continue as its invasion deepens.
Hezbollah is willing to accept a ceasefire if Israel commits, a political source told me, but it needs to be "a ceasefire by air, by sea, and on the ground. No bulldozing houses, no bombing homes or villages. End of the war. A cessation of hostilities. Ceasefire. Period."
Little indication from Israel that such an outcome is on the horizon. Meanwhile Lebanon has become a bargaining chip caught between vying foreign powers.
