I feel sick. In 2026 people's houses are being set on fire due to their colour of skin. When a minority commits a crime every ethnic minority has to now brace themselves for revenge. We need to mobilise against politicians who seek to turn communities against one another.

I will never forget the teacher who negotiated to be g4ng-r4ped instead of her daughter," writes @Halayalkarib, SIHA Network's Regional Director. This piece reflects on how conflict-related sexual violence has been systematically used across decades of war in Sudan to control, displace, and silence communities. It highlights the sharp escalation of abuses since April 2023 and underscores that violence against women and girls continues across territories, with little protection or access to justice. Placing these accounts within Sudan's broader political history, Hala shows how militarization and impunity enable these crimes and why addressing them is essential to any path toward peace. “Read the full article here: theguardian.com/global-devel… #KeepEyesOnSudan #KeepEyesOnDarfur ----------------------------- @UN_HRC @UNGeneva @eu_eeas @UNHumanRights @UN_Sudan @UNDP_Sudan @UNOCHA_Sudan @DWAG6 @DNforHR @AfricanCentre @USEmbassyKRT @AfricaAW @UKinSudan @RepSaraJacobs @Af4HA @_Nalafem @BSonblast @noonforwomen @el_karama @feministconsci1 @SudanHRH @NidalSaad4 @Sarajalilo @HkZuk @AfriFeminists @DutchMFA @fidh_un @GCR2P @CIHRS_Alerts @ISHRglobal @UNTrustFundEVAW @unwomensudan @NLinSudan @DefendDefenders @ngowgwps @Roaarabi2 @JamesCopnall @DavidLammy @antonioguterres @AyinSudan @_AfricanUnion @sudan_doctors @SecRubio @Swiss_Khartoum @AmbRamsoekh @RadioDabanga @kajakallas @EU_SUDAN @eu_echo

Across northern Africa, #UNHCR is turned into a mere service provider 1) In #Egypt it is being replaced by the state 2) The asylum law in #Algeria might have a similar outcome 3) The Mufti in #Libya wants UNHCR to be expelled 4) The #Tunisia gov prevents UNHCR from registrations
The bylaws for Egypt’s first ever asylum law were finally issued on Monday — a full year after the legal deadline for their completion. They lay out a nine month deadline for a new state committee to replace the UNHCR’s role in handling refugee application cases — a rush that a lawyer cautioned could leave refugees exposed and vulnerable. storage.googleapis.com/madam…

#KeepEyesOnSudan Irony of all ironies Sudan’s army embracing RSF defectors, while imprisoning and killing civilians it accuses of being collaborators.
Sudan's army is rewarding RSF defectors, while imprisoning and killing civilians they deem as "collaborators" based on flimsy intel. The double standard has reinforced perceptions that Sudan's war is a war on civilians. #Sudan My story for @truthout truthout.org/articles/in-sud…

Every day, the Muslim Brotherhood proves it controls the SAF decisions. Not even Burhan can respond to Alnajy, who appears in SAF uniform declaring support for #Iran, mocking Gulf states, and boasting they are ready to export their “mujahideen” battalions to fight alongside Tehran

In the second edition of the “Under the Microscope” series, we highlight how disinformation campaigns targeted Sudanese refugees in Egypt by mixing real and fabricated reports. Social media contributed to amplifying fear, hostility, and confusion, to the point that it became difficult to distinguish between fact and rumor.

Reports suggest the emergence of a new paramilitary militia: the “Joint Security Cell” - made up of Islamists and Bashir’s former NCP networks. A revival of Bashir-era “shadow brigades” targeting Sudanese activists. #KeepEyesOnSudan #HumanRights @SaheehSudan @amnesty @hrw

Interesting. Egypt is approaching this from a national security perspective, pushing for a ceasefire on Sudan and to de-escalate tensions in the wider Red Sea region. That result would also reduce GCC tensions. Egypt doesn't have much leverage but it will look for common ground.
Egypt’s Al Sisi travels to the UAE at a sensitive time in Saudi-UAE relations. Could this be an attempt to mediate between the two Gulf powerhouses, and/or ensuring Cairo maintains good ties with its two most important regional partners?

Famine has spread to Um Baru and Kernoi in North Darfur, Sudan. This is a devastating indictment of how the warring parties continue to block life-saving aid. Starvation must never be used as a weapon of war.
