Impostor syndrome? Yeah he's my roommate now. Am I a writer? Still figuring that out.

Look at those review sites that ask authors to pay to move up the queue. They're filled with five-star reviews. They're not helping readers make informed choices at all. They're just milking indie authors for money.
Should you lie in book reviews to help indie authors? If a book is a 2⭐ experience…rating it a 4⭐ β€œto help the author” might actually hurt readers more So where do you stand? -Protect indie authors -Or keep ratings 100% honest Let's talk about itπŸ‘‡πŸ§΅

@GaiusKonstantin again commenting and blocking. I've done my research before I even started to write. I know those sites. You were rating garbage with 5 stars because authors are paying for it.

If my suspicions are correct, you've lost my support. I'm not going to help promote your pretentious content anymore. No one gives a shit to what you do for authors. You are just padding your ego at our expense.

@GaiusKonstantin you went to my post accused then block me? You assumed I was talking about you? If it were, I'd tell you upfront. I don't beat around the bush. The truth is, you don't even know what I'm talking about.

Sometimes the most powerful stories come from our hardest moments. In this #AuthorSpotlight, @AmberDevlin01 talks about how loss shaped her debut novel The Book of the Goddess. Β  Read more >>> tr.ee/oAmQGw Β  via @justcastellon #JustReadingNook #WritingCommunity

WHERE DO READERS ACTUALLY FIND BOOKS? Before they ever click "buy," readers discover books through: πŸ“± Social content β€” an author's post, or a BookTok video β€¨πŸ” Search & algorithms β€” Amazon, Google, Goodreads β€¨πŸ›’ Retailer recommendations β€” "Customers also bought…" β€¨πŸ“š Editorial curation β€” staff picks, library displays, newsletters β€¨πŸ’¬ Word-of-mouth β€” a friend's mention over dinner β€¨πŸŽ™οΈ Podcasts & media interviews β€¨πŸ·οΈ Metadata β€” keywords, categories, descriptions WHY AWARENESS IS THE MOST NEGLECTED STAGE: It's invisible. It's slow. You can't always trace a sale back to a single post or keyword β€” so most authors underinvest in it. But here's the truth: without awareness, every other stage collapses. You can have a 5-star-worthy book, a stunning cover, and a premise readers would love... and still sell zero copies if no one knows it exists. A jaded drifter. A woman with a destination no one believes exists. A journey that sneaks up on you and doesn't let go. @justcastellon’s review of @plainrunner2’s Travel By Star, a redemptive quest wrapped in westerns, myth, and horse-angels. via πŸ‘‰ tr.ee/myp17H

Part of what I do for #JustReadingNook is read the novel and compare it to the film adaptation. I watched #TheOxfordYear last year, then forgot about it. Then a similar situation happened to me β€” living on borrowed time with someone β€” so I watched the film again. I saw it through a different lens. Closer to home... no, it hit home. Then I picked up the book today for the first time. I should have avoided it. I didn't need another reminder of our borrowed time. But then… I was reassured. Put at ease. That we'll live in the here and now, not squander another day, but make the most of every single one. So I'm writing a feature story on both the film and the book. This weekend. πŸ§¦πŸ“–

It’s my balloon 🎈 day 🎈 if you were thinking of READING my books, well… pretty please? The Ruin of the Watcher is first in the series, then The Sweater Case, Resurrection of the Ruby Skull, and Mad Dog Elegy. Standalone, but character builds if read in order. FREE on KU, BookSirens and BookSprout.

The hardest part of being an indie author isn't the writing. It's putting something deeply personal in front of strangers and hoping they see what you see.

A New Paradigm By now, many of you know I review for Reader’s Favorite, an established book review and award contest site. It’s not a bad place to do this, honestly, but adhering to their guidelines limits me. I’ll stick with them for the foreseeable future, but after composing my first review outside RF and seeing how liberating it felt, I’ve decided it’s time to progress. Expect more reviews outside RF, then, but be forewarned: the criteria will be more stringent. My focus will be on evaluating only the content presented in the current version of the book, without consideration for potential or suggested future revisions, author intentions, or planned updates. Each review will assess the text as-is, emphasizing thorough and honest analysis based solely on what is available at the time of review. The plan (for now) is to review one or two titles per month, which will appear here and at justreadingnook.com/ alongside a handful of titles reviewed for RF. The byline will qualify them. This should be fun...for me. #WritingCommunity

Readers don't owe your book a second look. The cover is your one shot before they scroll past, shelve it, or forget you exist. It either does the work or it doesn't. There's no middle ground in a split-second decision. . . . #WritingCommunity #BookBranding

Finally Getting theβ€” The universe left notes. Subtle ones, at first. More like taps on my dense noggin. Y’know. Like a recurring dream about missed trains. Or that one where you overslept. I always make too much ofβ€” Reading people? Ooh. You know you’re so very bad atβ€” Then the signs got larger. Billboard-sized. Skywritten. Delivered by a man in a sandwich board who made eye contact and side-eyed me. A woman passed me a note in the parking lot at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Still. I squinted at the horizon like something wasβ€” I was violating Rule # 1. Reader, my stuttering <wait, wut> was also a sign. Eventually even I ran out of alternate interpretations. The universe, exhausted, sat down. β€œOh,β€œ I said. β€œFinally,” said everything and everyone else. 🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🫣 The changes. I will make.
