The BMA didn’t put our offer to their members and now we know why: they wouldn’t have backed their unnecessary and irresponsible strikes.
They should give their members a say, call off these strikes and stop risking the NHS’s recovery.

This is all well-known, written about by excellent people from @david_colquhoun to @DrJenGunter and @dr_andrealove - so why did the @guardian run such a piece without modicum of fact-checking? Certainly UK doctors on reddit pretty annoyed about it too..

🔔UPDATE: More worrying evidence emerging of unsafe use of Physician Associates by @UHP_NHS. Doctors at the trust have been instructed to create a "prescribing rota" to determine who will prescribe and request scans for PAs.

The trust uses a PA to carry out paediatric ENT surgical procedures. When asked for their scope of practice & governance policies, the Trust refused, bizarrely citing "Health and Safety"
