If people have to pay to be @premiumbusiness then I trust the blue checkmark significantly less.

Hauntingly beautiful in any light, we can’t help but return to the Pillars of Creation over and over. And each time, we deepen our understanding of this region. With this new MIRI image, astronomers now have higher resolution data in mid-infrared light than ever before.

ALT Gif of the Pillars of Creation, a star-forming region, seen by different space telescopes. The first, labeled “Hubble 1995,” is in visible light. It shows the tops of three murky brown pillars against a green-blue background. There are a few large magenta stars. The second, “Spitzer 2007,” shows tiny pillars in mint green against a red landscape. This infrared image is dotted with blue stars. Third is “Hubble 2014,” also in visible light. There are three brown pillars with a handful of stars. The background is yellow and green toward the bottom; blue and purple at the top. Next is a near-infrared image by Webb’s NIRCam. The pillars are semi-transparent and rust-red, rising from the bottom left to the top right. The background is dark blue. Countless yellow and white stars speckle the scene. Last is a mid-infrared image by Webb’s MIRI. It’s like the NIRCam version, but with far fewer stars. The pillars are an opaque gray-blue and resemble a ghostly hand. The background glows orange.

❄️ Large chunks of water ice were scattered by the impact as shown in this image by MRO’s @HiRISE camera. Buried water ice has never been spotted this close to the Martian equator and could have implications for @NASA’s future plans to send astronauts to the Red Planet.

I think we should add the word "#repair" to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Or perhaps @LoctiteGlue? @RighttoRepair

There is something sublimely American about trying difficult things in public where everyone can see the good and the bad together. Serena plays in public. So does NASA. Operating in secret and only announcing successes is the soviet way

We are used to seeing lonely tracks of the rover on #Mars. Everywhere it drives it is the first…usually which is why it is strange and wonderful to see the road more traveled. @NASAPersevere @NASAJPL

Nope, we’re not just winging it! But we did successfully deploy and latch the first of our two primary mirror wings. 😎 These side panels, folded back for launch, each hold 3 of Webb’s 18 mirror segments. Next up: our final wing! blogs.nasa.gov/webb/2022/01/… #UnfoldTheUniverse
