I don’t know whether to be happy or sad about it, but today the Government of India seems to be the only Indian deep tech VC with deep pockets of seemingly patient capital.

I think India has a very good idea about *what* to do with AI models. I don’t think India has a good idea about what to do with sovereign AI models. Or why use them. Like Dharmesh says (and what @fooobar has been saying forever), there is a solid case for sovereign models, but they have to deliver at the same levels as the rest. And that sovereign model providers need to invest in marketing and communication machinery like the rest of them at a global scale, goes without saying.

Two skills I have learned well during my years in academia 1) How to articulate a good answer 2) How to articulate a good non-answer.

Write every email assuming it might end up in the public domain. Corollary: Never write an email when angry.

Not just the models -- we need to own the underlying compute also.

Work with whoever is willing to work with you. Stop waiting for folks you want to work with.
