🚂 @mtamaryland MARC train changes for October 2026: 1⃣ two Brunswick RTs to terminate at Camden via Silver Spring to College Park (skipping Union Station); 2⃣ weekday Penn Line express: Perryville 5:15am, Baltimore 6:18, DC 6:45 (27 min!) Can we please get a weekend express?
Wow happy to see wood make a comeback for new Amtrak train interiors. Please be real! The shower looks amazing. Make the seats thicker so when they recline (!) there is no peek-a-boo gap between seats. But the lounge seats should be facing outwards, no? Overall, looks good. 🚂👏
Amtrak has issued an RFP for a new Long Distance fleet, a key step toward modernizing overnight and cross-country train travel.
More comfort. Better reliability. A stronger experience.

You're not a real city unless you have at least one clock tower. (For DC, we have the Old Post Office Tower and the National Savings and Trust Company building, among others.)
I wish every neighborhood had its name in neon lights. Here are four vintage neon signs from DC (Georgetown, Takoma, Anacostia, and Arlington). What other neighborhoods have them?
Happy @mtamaryland is running two extra r/t MARC trains Sat Mar 28 for @CherryBlossFest (8:25am 10:00am Bmore deps; 4:00pm 8:00pm DC deps)... but why must they ban bikes? The Bike Car has floor racks that can't be used by passengers anyways 🚂🌸🌸🌸(@bikemorebmore@MDOTMTAHolly?)
🗻🚉 @ColoradoDOT's Mountain Rail and Front Range Passenger Rail will need new train stations for small towns. Let's follow the designs of historic Colorado depots like those in Castle Rock, Cripple Creek, Creede, and Victor. 🚃 @GovofCO@Colo_Rail@GreatDenTransit@COFRPR#FRPR
🎅📓🎄 Santa has an updated NC State Rail Plan. 🚄👏 @NCDOT/@NC_By_Train already has SEVEN passenger rail corridors being pursued in @USDOTFRA's Corridor Identification and Development Program, plus FIVE more in the early planning stages. 🍪🎁 Make it happen, @SecDuffy!
NCDOT’s Rail Division released its State Rail Plan for public comment, outlining a long-term vision for improving North Carolina’s passenger and freight rail system.

Festive Christmas tradition is the Monument Lighting in Baltimore. They shoot fireworks over the statue of George Washington atop the Washington Monument. 🎆🗿♥️🎅 So beautiful!
Once a year, @varailexpress has weekend service: it's the Santa Trains on Saturday, December 13. Round trips only! vre.org/events/santa-trains-… Why not have train rides with Santa from DC to Christmas events in Fredericksburg or Manassas? 🎅🚂🤶🍪🎄
🏗️ @MarylandDOT has awarded development of Odenton MARC stop to Questar Properties & @HomesforAmerica. This is overdue, but I do not want these ugly boxes facing the tracks, nor the $60 million parking garage. It should be beautiful and reflect Maryland's architectural heritage.
Amtrak's Winter Park Express is back and even cheaper than last year: $9–$19 (down from $19–$39 last year, and $39–$76 the year before). Yet, only 57 trips this season vs 69 last year. Highly recommended if you are in Denver. amtrak.com/winterparkexpress
Amtrak needs to fix this. Alstom should be embarrassed. The new NextGen Acela cars have seats with NO WINDOWS. They had 9 years to design a new coach and no one seemed to notice this obvious flaw until YouTuber Trains Are Awesome posted a video of his seats on the inaugural run.
Here's another view of the windowless seat, from @TrainsMagazine's Bob Johnston. trains.com/pro/passenger/int… Could somebody please research how this obvious flaw escaped into the final product. @Amtrak needs to explain, and then fix it. Even if they just put a luggage rack here.
As @ColoradoDOT's "mountain rail" approaches its first phase with Denver⇄Granby service, it's good to see the Moffat Road Railroad Museum adding its own train ride, across the tracks from the Granby Amtrak station.
See "Moffat Road Railroad Museum on track with capital campaign: $900,000 fundraising goal aims to renovate Dumont Depot and add family train ride by 2026" skyhinews.com/opinion/moffat…
The museum is near the Amtrak station, but across the tracks. Instead of walking over a highway (or running a shuttle), @ColoradoDOT needs to dig a pedestrian tunnel to build a safe shortcut. See "Granby prepares for passenger rail service" w/@MattRenouxyoutube.com/watch?v=jiIXop5i…
