What happens when you put a convolutional block in the middle of a language model and then look at the activations as it's generating?

Yup; there are lots of really great Chinese open source models, and after WWDC, it just became even easier to integrate them into apps.
The irony is not lost on me when he subtly uses Qwen in this demo. If America is gonna lead it better have the top local models. There is gonna be an army of things using local models.

We’re excited to share our latest research led by @patpcj and @HammadTime. Frontier level agentic search performance at 20B parameters.
Introducing Harness-1, a 20B search agent trained with a state-externalizing harness. > frontier-level long-horizon search, rivaling Opus-4.6 and outperforming GPT-5.4 > Context-1-level cost and latency > externalizes candidates, evidence, verification, and search history > open-source

Working on some write-ups of past work that didn't pan out like I'd hoped, but, was ultimately open-sourced. I think some of it will be valuable to read.

I went back and forth on whether or not it was worth the time and effort as opposed to focusing on what's new, but, I think it's ultimately good to put a final, archival stamp on what I put a lot of time and effort into.

Never thought I’d try using an Andoird, but, @Shmall of @WaferSystems has been working on a new vision of what a phone can be. Proud to be an early supporter of the company and a beta tester!

Pretty good example of going from rough sketch and "circuit board" as the instruction to a polished SF Symbol SVG

Looks like the closest SF symbol to the Claude logo is the laser burst one

Not bad for taking a pretty crappy sketch and getting something good!

In some ways, iPads and iPhones are computing appliances, not computers
May 29
"It is in some ways offensive to me that iOS is a nearly 20-year-old computer on which you cannot make software for the computer itself." — @gruber "At this point, an iPad Pro costs like $2,000. And you can't use it to make apps. It's kind of bizarre." "Even if it was just like, 10 people — a consumer-level of TestFlight distribution — where you can make apps for your friends and family and distribute it on up to 10 devices. And it doesn't go through Apple, doesn't need approval, you just make it and distribute it." "Yes, it's disruptive to Apple's business. But the disruption is inevitable anyway. So why not go with what's cool, and do the coolest thing possible, that makes new possibilities available to your users and developers on your platform?"
