HTTP calls to third parties during a web request are extremely risky. They:
1. Couple your response time to something out of your control
2. Are often misconfigured, with no/too lax of timeout
3. Couple your downtime (!!!) to a service not in your control
A few mitigations:
Much of infrastructure engineering is about data, TBH:
- storage systems
- monitoring tools
- data warehouses
Usage of all these tools has been dependent on how effectively the data can be queried.
More human friendly query interfaces will be the next frontier in infra eng.

Hey @chainguard_dev, any plans to add build-essential or alpine-sdk to Wolfi packages repos? Packaging with melange a Ruby Puma Sinatra app with C dependencies is being a bit painful. Check out my gist for more details: gist.github.com/pollosp/b5da…#development#wolfi

It´s a #Pentium! Let´s decap those CPUs in order to have a clear view on the silicon die. As usual, I use my heatgun at 650°C to quickly remove the back lid. Just took minutes for this 75MHz P54C version...(4/14)
Deploys and releases are two different things.
DEPLOY -- building, testing, and rolling out new code changes; hopefully small, incremental ones, very often
RELEASE -- changing user experience in some meaningful way (not just minor bug fixes)
