Excited and proud to be recognized for my PhD work with this award! Thank you for this honor and to everyone involved in my projects, first and foremost my advisor and mentor @StephanHacker2. And congratulations to my fellow award winners!

@AntheJanssen and I have a fully-funded, 4-year PhD position for a researcher interested in computational and chemical biology approaches to develop new antibiotics. Join us to do great science in beautiful Leiden @UniLeiden@LeidenScienceEN@LeidenScienceuniversiteitleiden.nl/en/vac…
Join us for the 2nd Munich-Leiden Virtual @ChemBioTalks! A very exciting lineup of speakers and the first time that we will also include flash talks by PhD students and postdocs. If you want to actively participate in that way, make sure to look at the abstract challenge.
Today in @eLife we reveal the mechanism of action of a large family of highly cytotoxic lipids and show how it can be exploited. Opens many applications, since novel molecules with selective cytotoxic effects can be designed from this elifesciences.org/articles/7…
Excited that this great study led by @SebBritton1 is out @eLife. Very happy that @patrick_zanon and I could make a contribution using residue-specific proteomics. Check it out to learn how SDRs oxidize alkynylcarbinols into protein-reactive electrophiles. doi.org/10.7554/eLife.73913
Very excited that our former group member @patrick_zanon received one of the GDCh Division of Medicinal Chemistry's 2022 PhD Awards for his PhD thesis at the Frontiers in Medicinal Chemistry #fimc2022@GDCh_aktuell. Congratulations, Patrick! #proudPI
I am glad to share our new optimised chemical proteomic workflow for low protein input in 96-well plate, we call it SP2E. Easy, robust and fast. Try it out! We used it for analysis of AMPylation and O-GlcNAcylation. Thanks to Tobias and all coauthors. biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Our group has a few postdoc positions open on rna chemical biology esp degraders. If you have base skills in organic synthesis, structural biology/biophysics/biochemistry, or informatics and are interested pls email me at Disney@scripps.edu
A chemical biology story: in this preprint we report the discovery of the mechanism of action of a large family of cytotoxic lipids, turning out to be prodrugs bioactivated into protein reactive-species by the human Short-Chain Dehydrogenase (SDR) HSD17B11 biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
My defence on Friday was the grand finale to my time in Munich. I am very grateful for all friends, family, colleagues and collaborators who accompanied me during this almost full decade!
Very excited that @patrick_zanon is now officially the first Ph.D. student to finish his Ph.D. in our group. After a very successful Ph.D. project, he also excelled in his oral thesis defense and passed with distinction. Congratulations, Patrick! #proudPI
In particular I want to thank @StephanHacker2 and @SieberLab for making my PhD an extremely positive experience and my examination committee Matthias Feige, @CathleenZeymer and @klanglab.
Interested in integrating #FragPipe in your Chemical Proteomics workflow? Listed to this webinar by our terrific collaborators, presented by Patrick Zanon from @StephanHacker2 lab. One area where we are putting a lot of effort, new collaborations welcomed! youtube.com/watch?v=qEDDCLsc…
Our next webinar, this time sponsored by MSWil, is this Friday 18th June, 2pm BST and will be focused on chemical proteomics. We will have two exciting speakers @theWittySquare, @patrick_zanon and guest chair @MBantscheff
