An honour to celebrate #BritishScienceWeek with the pupils of @BanksPrimary. We made pH indicator from red cabbage and used a microscope to search for life in the school’s pond. Some great answers to the question ‘What do scientist do?’…
Professor John Young came to talk to the children about his Science role at the University of Teesside. They found out about seasons, microscopes and using ph indicator paper!

Assessing a patient’s fitness for surgery can be challenging - and getting it right ensures the right care before, during and after surgery, minimising risks This study develops our understanding of cardiovascular and respiratory health - a platform for better outcomes of surgery
Our latest @uclchimera paper extends multi-compartmental models of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems to capture variable heart rate - a key indicator for patient physiology in intensive care. Congrats to first author Sam Lishak! royalsocietypublishing.org/d…

Thank you @RosetreesT for highlighting this acknowledgement of the hard work and successes of the group, and for your support over the years - which goes far beyond funding. It won't be long now until the diagnostic is available to those who need it.
It's not every day that the PM refers to your work as an 'extraordinary invention' (during visit to Teesside Uni's National Horizons Centre)! So, congrats to Rosetrees-funded Prof John Young at Teesside University for his dipstick test to diagnose early-stage overactive bladder!
