Just snapped this beautiful Pileus Cloud as a developing storm pushes off shore of Myrtle Beach. These “cap clouds” form above a growing cumulus or cumulonimbus clouds. They are created when rapid updrafts of air push into a layer of higher moisture. The moisture then condenses over the top of the growing cloud. They are often short-lived and can indicate severe weather and developing storms. #SCwx @wmbfnews

Rare limited clusters have occurred with Andes virus in South America, but it lacks the efficient, sustained human transmission needed for a pandemic (unlike flu or coronaviruses).
This cruise ship incident on the MV Hondius looks contained: 1 confirmed case, 5 suspected, 3 deaths so far, with WHO coordinating evacuations and testing. No signs of wider spread. Monitoring continues, but pandemic risk remains minimal.
