Hitler killed himself and Germany surrendered. Japan got nuked. Do they teach history in Ohio?
JD Vance: If you go back to WW2 or every major conflict in human history, they all ended with some kind of negotiation.

World War II ended with unconditional surrenders by Germany on May 8, 1945, and Japan on September 2, 1945, rather than negotiation. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unconditi… archives.gov/milestone-docu… nationalww2museum.org/war/topics/end…

I'm seeing a lot of fake information about a potential deal to reopen the Strait and end Iran's nuclear weapons program. First, the Iranians are not receiving any cash, and no funds are being released for simply signing a deal or attending a meeting. The deal is structured to ensure that the US and its allies concerns are prioritized, and that if the Islamic Republic of Iran meets its obligations, then economic benefits will flow to them and to the entire region. This deal has the potential to remake the region and lead to lasting peace. I've noticed a couple of bizarre things in the reporting over the last few hours. First, people who (rightly) said Donald Trump was a historic president a month ago now criticizing a deal based on unconfirmed media reports. Second, people who say you can't trust a word said by the IRGC who apparently believe anonymously sourced social media posts. The president is going to get us a good outcome, one way or the other.

There are so many things to criticize Democrats over, but here you are slamming them for blocking unconstitutional spying on Americans. You absolutely suck at this.
As millions of Americans gather for large events and summer celebrations, Democrats just BLOCKED the FISA Section 702 national security statute, hampering our ability to detect foreign terrorist threats. This comes after Democrats shut down Homeland Security. This is a stunning and dangerous fact: Democrats are now willing to put petty politics over public safety.

House fails to pass interim FISA Section. The vote was 198 yeas to 218 nays. But this needed a 2/3 majority and the Houde couldn't even get a simple majority. With 416 members voting, this needed 273 yeas.

The FISC recertified the 702 program in March. It can continue for a year. Reformers have been saying this the entire time.
A lot of Hill Republicans believe the Trump admin can and will continue operating section 702 for some time, even if Congress fails to reauthorize — regardless of an executive order “That’s what I would do,” one House Republican said

💯.  If the House Floor was managed properly, discharge petitions would never be needed. A successful discharge petition is clear and direct evidence of a poorly managed House Floor—because it demonstrates that the will of the majority of the People is being thwarted by the privileged few. Leadership of both parties have been guilty of this for years…just further evidence of the brokenness of the two-party system—and the rise of Independent voters is a direct manifestation of this.
the frustration by House R leadership at discharges is really misguided. the reason people feel like they need to file/sign discharge petitions is because they do not feel like the leadership is representing their interests well enough.

We could pass a long term extension of FISA this week, but Chairman Crawford and Congressional leaders would rather have a sunset than allow a vote on warrants. And despite his claims here, the DNI is deeply involved in using FISA 702. Here are half a dozen ways how…
To my Senate colleagues: STOP PLAYING POLITICS WITH 702. Getting this right to protect America from foreign spies, cyber saboteurs, and global terrorists while tightening protections against abuses is one of the most important RESPONSIBILITIES we have as a Congress. Whatever you think of the President’s personnel decisions, the Director of National Intelligence - acting or confirmed - doesn’t even use 702. This is the wrong fight at the wrong time. Pass the bill and get this done!

A lot of words to say he hates the Fourth Amendment. Get a warrant!
America faces real threats from foreign adversaries, terrorists, cyber actors, and hostile intelligence services. Section 702 remains one of our nation’s most effective tools for identifying and disrupting those threats before they reach our shores. The bipartisan Senate reauthorization strengthens both security and civil liberties by adding new safeguards, increasing transparency, expanding congressional oversight, imposing criminal penalties for misuse, and enhancing protections for Americans’ constitutional rights. Democrats are choosing to halt action on reauthorization, undermining national security and putting politics ahead of the safety of the American people. At a time of growing threats around the world, Congress should be strengthening the tools that protect our nation—not weakening them. We call on Senator Schumer and Senator Warner to bring Senate Democrats back to the table with Senate Republicans and pass this critical piece of legislation. Reauthorizing Section 702 is about protecting Americans’ privacy and protecting Americans’ security. We can—and must—do both.

Most of the people who pled guilty to assaulting police officers on Jan. 6 … are on video assaulting police officers on Jan. 6. It wasn’t a difficult calculus. And there’s simply no evidence the FBI did anything Trump says they did here — Kash Patel has said the opposite.
Jun 7
Welker: Do you think anyone who attacks police officers on January 6th should get taxpayer money? Trump: I can tell you this, 97% of those people, you look at them, the FBI or whoever it was, you had a lot of crooked cops. They had FBI agents ushering them in. You had a bunch of dirty cops. Welker: There’s no evidence of that. Trump: Try looking at the tapes. Welker: 172 people did plead guilty to assaulting police officers. Trump: You know why they pled guilty? They were told they were going to jail for 15 years. They pled guilty because they were frightened. They went down and ushered into a building.

Under FISA 702, the government collects massive amounts of data on Americans while “targeting” foreigners overseas. They then unconstitutionally search that data without a warrant for info on Americans. The “libertarian demand” he’s whining about is called the Fourth Amendment.
FISA 702 is the authority for surveillance on foreign soil—the core of all US security. A libertarian demand to make SecWar get approval from liberal DC judges (the ones who targeted Trump) is madness. No conservative aim is ever served through subservience to leftist DC judges.

“The Fourth Amendment is the real tyranny.” —Stephen Miller, translated
Across the West, leftist judicial tyranny propels marxism and reverses patriotic reform. Blocking FISA 702 to demand more power for leftist judges is a continuation of the same strategic & ideological error that gave the left decades of institutional dominance in the first place.

I know why LDS was left out. That said, most LDS folks I’ve met are more reflective of the teaching of Jesus of Nazareth than the vast majority of evangelicals I’ve encountered.
Can anyone tell me why The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was left out of the list of Christian churches?
