@Sansad_TV programme, we take stock of a defining global commitment made ten years ago. In September 2015, world leaders gathered at the United Nations and adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development—pledging to transform our world and leave no one behind. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined a shared blueprint for ending poverty, protecting the planet, and ensuring peace and prosperity for all.
Despite a turbulent decade marked by conflict, climate change, economic instability, and geopolitical tensions, real progress has been achieved. Global poverty has declined in several regions, child mortality rates have dropped, access to electricity has expanded, and major strides have been made in tackling deadly diseases. India, playing a key role in this global journey, recently presented its third Voluntary National Review (VNR) at the UN High-Level Political Forum in New York. Led by NITI Aayog, the report reflects how India has integrated the SDGs into national development strategies, transforming them into a movement for inclusive and sustainable growth.
In this episode, we explore India’s decade-long SDG journey—its successes, the persistent challenges, and the critical steps needed to match the ambition of the 2030 Agenda with urgency and unified action as we enter the final stretch toward the deadline.
