I just want a government that works … due to the federal government shutdown, 9,659 people in Pickens County & 266,000 people in the state may suddenly be without their SNAP food credits in November.
That’s 7% of our neighbors in this county, probably around 5,000 are children.
I know if the federal government shutdown stretches into November, our churches & community will try to fill the gap … but gaps will exist, children will be hungry, & all of it a creation by politicians unable to govern.
I don’t care which party to blame. I’m part of the segment that doesn’t care about the political theater until it negatively impacts our community.
