1/ Excited to announce the launch of @Cambrian_HQ 's inaugural $20 million fund to back the next generation of fintech founders! Incredibly grateful for my time at @a16z, and, now, exited to share how I ended up as a solo capitalist by way of community building. 🧵 👇

crazy idea..growth better than degrowth.
The poorest economies in the world are not achieving economic growth. The consequence is that progress against the very worst poverty is coming to a halt. This is one of the worst problems in the world today, but hardly gets any attention.

hilarious. 1st time i used google earth was 2007, i immediately went to this exact same spot w the flight sim. interlaken switzerland. I had visited my brother there the summer before this was one of my very first experiences w/ high speed reliable broadband internet. I grew up on a farm. parents had dialup on the farm until like 2015! so i only got to use the flight sim when visiting my brothers at college. interlaken is beautiful, the valley nextdoor, lauterbrunnen also stunning!
Prepare for takeoff. ✈️ Flight simulator is now available globally on web to all users. goo.gle/4fBYnWO We've recently added many our most powerful professional desktop features to web. Elevation profiles, new import types, but there's always been one other feature you've been asking us to add to the web version of Google Earth, just for fun... Where will you fly? Share your best maneuvers, views, and flyovers with us!

prediction on ai spend per employee -- in 1 year - top 1% 0.5x (call it ~$150k / year) -top 10% 4x (call it $30k / year) - median 10x (call it $1k / year) epistemic status -- 🤷‍♂️
ai pilled companies spending $90k / employee per year 🤯 per employee, not per engineer. where does this go in a year!? can't wait to find out... from ramp's dataset (70k companies).

Periodic reminder — 50% of VC funds don’t make money (after inflation).
Let's check in on how VCs are performing (past 9 vintage years). 1) Power law is alive and well. Gaps between top 10% and top 5% are wide. 2) 2021 is shaping up to have been a terrible year to be investing as a VC
