I think Amsterdam is my favorite most livable city in its density. Boston and DC have population densities in the same ballpark.
Walk anywhere in Amsterdam and you’ll sense a calm coherence: bricks, curbs, fixtures, benches, bollards and drains that look related. This isn’t accidental. It’s a product of the Puccini Method, the city’s standards—part design language, part playbook—for shaping every street.🧵

BREAKING: After sustained pressure from pro-Palestine students and protesters, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has cut ties with Elbit Systems—Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer. Just this week, Elbit’s drones bombed tents in Gaza, killing civilians. Students vow to keep fighting universities complicit in genocide.

we have evolved past the need for light rail: Copenhagen’s automated light metro should be the template for every new project Automating the entire system enables more frequent, smaller trains that provide better service and lower construction costs with smaller stations

Good luck to Copenhagen -- a city slightly smaller and less dense than Leeds with an economy twice the size -- with its newly confirmed fifth autonomous metro line project which will provide excellent connectivity for the land at Lynetteholm in the process of being reclaimed.

Do you know why luxury brands put logos all over their clothes? I'll tell you. 🧵
A dude wearing a $1,250 Balenciaga sweatshirt complaining about the city selling out by building affordable housing for seniors is just perfect.

It's a principle we see in many other areas of the market. I will let you decide where you see it crop up. Where do we see artificial scarcity that ends up creating inflated profits? And how can we change those laws to reduce prices for consumers?

I just watched the whole RFK Jr—Hannity interview where they discuss measles. I don't know what to say. I'm really just speechless. Listening to health leadership bungle basic facts at best—and tell outright lies about long-settled science at worst—is just SO disappointing.

Mumbai’s historic Fort area could have been a world-class heritage precinct—wide footpaths, beautiful streets, a showcase of our architectural legacy. Instead, it’s choked with encroachments and neglect. My city deserves better. It hurts to see this every day. 💔 #SaveMumbaiHeritage @mybmc how can you allow this to happen? @richapintoi @mumbaimatterz @RoadsOfMumbai @TOIMumbai @mid_day @MumbaiFootpaths

New York (De)Congestion Pricing news: Not only is traffic down in the Congestion Relief Zone, where it costs $9 to enter with a car, it's also down on links that motorists could be expected to use to bypass it. Even the transit agency didn't predict this.
Congestion pricing is working even better than anticipated: traffic is down, even outside the zone. "Where are those trips going? One possibility is more of these drivers are ditching the car for the train more than the MTA forecasted." Huge news today in @StreetsblogNYC:

Texas tried to build a High Speed Rail back in the 1990s. But Southwest Airlines killed it because they convinced the state that they would have affordable travel between the cities and free checked bags. Now Southwest has neither... ...and Texas doesn't have high speed rail.
