From community engagement and testing to contact tracing and treatment, the government-led #Ebola response in the #DRC is being intensified.
Significant challenges remain, but with strong collaboration, sustained support for frontline health workers, and the people of DRC the outbreak can be brought under control, says @Chikwe_I, @WHO's Executive Director for the Health Emergencies Programme.
đInside the race to develop a new Ebola vaccine
As Ebola rages, Moderna and others are racing to develop an mRNA vaccine for the rare Bundibugyo virus driving the current outbreak
CEPI has committed up to $60 million in funding to develop three Bundibugyo vaccine candidates: Modernaâs mRNA vaccine, a candidate from IAVI (formerly the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative), and a University of Oxford candidate that will be manufactured by the Serum Institute of India.
Each uses a different proven technology. mRNA uses genetic instructions to make the body produce a viral protein; the IAVI vaccine candidate uses a recombinant vesicular stomatitis virus, a weakened version of a virus that can infect livestock, as a vector to deliver genetic instructions for a Bundibugyo virus protein. And Oxfordâs ChAdOx platform uses a modified chimpanzee adenovirus as a delivery vehicle.

This is what happens when a country produces successful entrepreneurs who become wealthy by backing one company.
Their first instinct is not, âWhere can I hide the money?â. It is, âWhere can I invest next? What company can I build? Which problem can I solve?â
That is how one successful company can seed an entire generation of founders, investors & new industries.

Mueller was one of SpaceX's first hires in 2002. He led the team behind the Merlin engines that power Falcon, the workhorse that made reusable rockets real.
He left in 2020 to start his own space company, Impulse Space. Counting that, his fortune runs higher, toward $2 billion.
He grew up in rural Idaho and built the engines that opened orbit. A true original.

I highly recommend being friends with ambitious people. Their drive pushes you to work hard for yourself. They inspire you to do better, and their good traits rub off on you. Thatâs how you grow.
I respect people who can wake up and within 30 minutes get up, have breakfast, shower, and get ready for work. I need 30 minutes just to figure out where I am and who I am.
