Crashouts on race week are more normal than you think. I've gotten them. People better than me have, too. You're not uniquely a headcase if you get em. You care about this thing coming up! You want to do well! I'm at the point where I just schedule it into my race week.

"I'll do 75 hard, lose the weight, then go back to normal living' Great...you'll suffer for 75 days just to lose all your progress in the next 75 days HOW you lose the weight matters... If it's not sustainable longterm than you're wasting your own time

Most people will die without discovering the thing they were best at. I almost did. It was 2019 when I listened to David Goggins on Joe Rogan and decided to start running. I'm 6'3", 205 lbs. Zero competitive running experience. Built like a wrestler, definitely not a runner. I was just trying not to gain weight again. Funny thing happened though: The longer the distance, the better I performed. 5Ks were not for me. But ultramarathons? I won 5 out of 15 races. Set 4 course records. Turns out I have an endurance gene. My grandpa walked from Ft. Worth to Dallas once, just for fun. Makes sense now. But here's the lesson: I was 38 years old before I discovered this. What if I'd never tested it? What if I'd assumed I knew what I was good at and stopped there? So now I test everything (except drugs). Every business idea. Every marketing channel. Every hypothesis that keeps me up at night. Because the cost of not testing is dying without knowing what you were capable of. You might be incredible at something you've never tried. Test it. Here's a spreadsheet for testing marketing channels in the first comment below:

Dr. Brooks forgot the seventh primary travel motive: "Run a marathon"
Research suggests there are six primary travel motives: -Exploration -Escape -Deepening relationships -Prestige -Nature -History and heritage One of the most useful questions you can ask before planning your next vacation is: Why am I taking this trip in the first place? Most of us have more than one, but understanding which ones matter most to you can change how you plan your time away. For example, if what you really need is a deeper connection, a packed sightseeing itinerary may leave you exhausted. Or if you're craving exploration, sitting by the pool for a week may not be as restorative as you imagined. The goal isn't to have the perfect vacation. It's to have the right vacation for you.

Excited to share after 20 years of road racing and track, I’m racing my 1st trail race this Friday at the Broken Arrow Ascent. Have no idea what to expect other than lung burning, legs on the edge, 2800ft of climbing and a whole new adventure to take on!

This is one of the last shots I captured of this tree with the Milky Way in the background last Friday. I was standing in a field right next to the parking lot, watching the sky as my camera was taking this shot... and at about 10 seconds in, I heard a big kitty growl at me. It was a deep, monotone, long winded growl and the worst part is, I couldn't tell how far away it was but it sounded like it was right next to me. Maybe I was next to a den and didn't know it. You better believe I stayed for this shot. Right after I heard the growl, the shutter clicked and it was done, I grabbed by tripod and slowly backed up to the car which was right next to me, and flashed my maglite flashlight toward the sound, scanned the field, all while putting my gear back in the car to call it a night. Two things are certain, it was either a bobcat or a cougar, and if it were a cougar, I'm lucky it didn't attack.

Them: β€œWhy do you workout so much?” Because: In 2017 I took care of my sick mother. I lost my father in 2018. I lost my brother in 2020. I lost my grandmother in 2022. I lost my oldest brother in 2025. I lost my other grandma in 2026. And right now, I’m caring for my sick husband. Life is all about being prepared for war. If you refuse to do hard, painful things consistently then you can’t call yourself strong or capable. A strong body is just the byproduct of unbreakable mental fortitude.

Iβ€˜m currently going through my DMs here and the hospitality from Americans is INCREDIBLE 😳 The number of people who have invited me to their barbecues, offered to show me their cities, take me to sports events, on boat trips and even want to give me in their vacation homes (!!!) for a week…I am blown away. Every single message means the world to me. This would never happen back home in Germany. Thank you USA πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έβ€οΈ

If you take Omega-3s, don't make my mistake: Once you open the bottle, they need to go in the fridge. Omega-3 fatty acids oxidize at room temperature. Rancid fish oil doesn't slow biological aging. It increases oxidative stress and does the opposite of what you paid for. An easy fix is putting them in cold storage to keep them stable.
Supplementing with omega-3 fatty acids slows biological aging. Combining omega-3s with vitamin D and exercise has an additive effect, translating to ~3 months of slowed biological aging. These were the results of the 3-year-long DO-HEALTH study, which @prof_horvath believes is one of the strongest pieces of evidence that simple interventions (that also likely correct a deficiency) are powerful ways to slow or reverse the aging process. We discuss this study and more in the latest episode of the FoundMyFitness podcast.

Obsess. For f*ck sakes. You only get one life. Don’t screw it up by being normal. Go all in. Act like a psycho. Let people call you insane. Please. I beg you. Obsession is the path.

Summer of base building requires a big commitment of resources. Had Superblast 3 on my to buy list for a while, finally pulled the trigger. Irresponsible colorway, but I couldn’t get on board with the other options. These are so sweet. Lots of long runs await.
