When Russia hosted the World Cup in 2018, it had to suspend normal visa rules for the tournament. Foreigners with tickets could enter visa-free, using a scheme called ‘Fan ID.’
Russia also had to do weird stuff to keep FIFA’s sponsors happy. For example, small shops near Fan Zones and stadiums could only sell Budweiser beer on match days.
So yes, FIFA absolutely does dictate conditions to host governments when it suits FIFA. Infantino pretending otherwise is nonsense.

Infantino was asked by a BBC journalist if he's embarrassed by what has come to pass and does he accept he's lost control of his tournament here.
His response: “in 2035, the Women’s World Cup, I think, will be in the UK. Would you find it normal that FIFA will dictate to the British government who to let in the country and who not to let in?”

And the most exhausting World Cup for players. The long travelling and numerous matches are not good for the players after a long season already. They are going to be squeezed like lemons, and of course, the game is suffering as a result of reduced quality and energy. This is totally designed for non-football-only commercial interests. But it will also have an impact on the Commercial site if the football is starting to get boring and diluting the game. The game is going the wrong way.

A Somali referee who is due to officiate at the World Cup has been denied entry to the U.S. after “vetting concerns” emerged upon his arrival in Florida over the weekend.
Omar Artan arrived at Miami International Airport on a flight from Istanbul on Saturday but was barred from entering the country following a “routine” inspection, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed in a statement to The Athletic.
Artan, the 2025 Confederation of African Football men’s referee of the year, is one of 52 referees handpicked by world governing body FIFA for the tournament.

FIFA confirm single-player walkouts won’t happen at the World Cup.
They will instead debut what is being called a “fan-centric pre-match ceremony” intended to showcase squads not just starting XIs. As revealed, the walkouts remain non-traditional.
All players will stand in the centre circle for the line-up reads and national anthems.
There will also be creative new visual elements, including the use of hand-held flags.🏆
