So @ITVSport referring to it as ‘the first quarter’ means they should never be allowed to broadcast another football match ever again

When Russia hosted the World Cup in 2018, it had to suspend normal visa rules for the tournament. Foreigners with tickets could enter visa-free, using a scheme called ‘Fan ID.’ Russia also had to do weird stuff to keep FIFA’s sponsors happy. For example, small shops near Fan Zones and stadiums could only sell Budweiser beer on match days. So yes, FIFA absolutely does dictate conditions to host governments when it suits FIFA. Infantino pretending otherwise is nonsense.
Infantino was asked by a BBC journalist if he's embarrassed by what has come to pass and does he accept he's lost control of his tournament here. His response: “in 2035, the Women’s World Cup, I think, will be in the UK. Would you find it normal that FIFA will dictate to the British government who to let in the country and who not to let in?” #FIFAWorldCup

And the most exhausting World Cup for players. The long travelling and numerous matches are not good for the players after a long season already. They are going to be squeezed like lemons, and of course, the game is suffering as a result of reduced quality and energy. This is totally designed for non-football-only commercial interests. But it will also have an impact on the Commercial site if the football is starting to get boring and diluting the game. The game is going the wrong way.
The 2026 World Cup will be the most polluting of all time - and it's not even close 🏭 A reliance on air travel and a sponsorship deal with Aramco have led to accusations of environmental negligence, writes @felixkeith 👇 mirror.co.uk/sport/football/…

A Somali referee who is due to officiate at the World Cup has been denied entry to the U.S. after “vetting concerns” emerged upon his arrival in Florida over the weekend. Omar Artan arrived at Miami International Airport on a flight from Istanbul on Saturday but was barred from entering the country following a “routine” inspection, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed in a statement to The Athletic. Artan, the 2025 Confederation of African Football men’s referee of the year, is one of 52 referees handpicked by world governing body FIFA for the tournament. 🤦‍♂️ (@Romain_Molina)

Football is comfortably the most popular sport on planet earth, it has held that title for as long as anyone can remember; it doesn’t need these gimmicks. JUST PLAY THE FUCKING GAMES.
FIFA confirm single-player walkouts won’t happen at the World Cup. They will instead debut what is being called a “fan-centric pre-match ceremony” intended to showcase squads not just starting XIs. As revealed, the walkouts remain non-traditional. All players will stand in the centre circle for the line-up reads and national anthems. There will also be creative new visual elements, including the use of hand-held flags.🏆

Sean Strickland got "the call" from the UFC, but says he's still going to Washington DC to protest the event 😭 "I got the call, UFC higher ups called me. They said I'm not Israeli enough to go to UFC 250 Israel edition. I already bought ymy plane ticket, we're f*cking going. I'm gonna bring the belt, I'll get a big f*cking bull horn and go right up to the gates... We're gonna do a peaceful protest." (via @SStricklandMMA)
🚨 Sean Strickland says he's BANNED from attending the UFC White House event because he "made fun of Israel and Epstein" "UFC at the White House with [Netanyahu] in the audience. Straight 🇮🇱 slop. The only male American champ banned at the White House because I said Trump is owned by [Netanyahu]. That's not public opinion it's fact."

Things banned from US World Cup: 1. Fans' water bottles👇 2. The Iranian football team 3. The striker for the Swiss team 4. Walking to some stadiums 5. The spirit of football Switch. It. Off.
FIFA code of conduct a month ago; “For avoidance of doubt, empty, transparent, reusable plastic bottles, up to [1 liter in] capacity, may be brought into the Stadium.” Now policy says: “For avoidance of doubt, reusable water bottles may not be brought into the stadium.”

When are Sky going to learn? Cut away from these pointless replays when the ball is back in play - especially when it's an attacking phase.

A billionaire worth £17,000,000,000 who moved to Monaco to dodge £4,000,000,000 in tax is now blaming immigrants for Britain’s problems. If parasitic billionaires like Jim Ratcliffe paid what they owe — and politicians weren’t in their pockets — our NHS, schools and public services wouldn’t be on their knees. It is textbook divide and rule. The real enemy of the working class travels by private jet, not migrant dinghy.
