If I this were true, the best thing to do would have been to laugh about it. Which means that either Starmer has absolutely no instinct for dealing with this, or something very fishy was going on.
The idea that Putin cares enough about Keir Starmer to send a 22 year-old Ukrainian to set fire to his house and car is absolutely hilarious.

It's interesting that for the 22 people killed by an refugee at the Manchester Arena we're told "don't look back in anger", but for Jo Cox, we're told to constantly look back in anger.

I’ve never previously used the insult “I hope your balls turn square and rot at the corners” But lots of guys in this thread try to mansplain mastectomy, who deserves it better?
Dear Lush (cc Chelmsford City Council), As a woman who had half a breast removed last year due to cancer, I am writing to raise my concerns about your “Proud of My Stripes” window display. I am also, on behalf of other women who have experienced breast cancer, respectfully requesting its removal. Because mastectomies are not a fashion statement, an identity marker or something to be celebrated. They are something women undergo because they are ill, because they are frightened, because they are trying to stay alive. Around 59,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK every year. Many will undergo surgery - a mastectomy, lumpectomy or other procedure. Others choose preventive mastectomies because they carry a high-risk BRCA gene mutation. If a woman chooses to have her breasts removed to affirm a gender identity, that is her personal choice. I honestly don’t know the number of women who have elective mastectomies for this reason. What I do know is that it is a tiny number compared with those for whom breast surgery is medically necessary and not something to be celebrated. I think I speak for many women who have experienced breast cancer - and for their families - when I say this: Breast removal surgery is not something I regard as cute, playful or empowering. Nor is it something I believe retailers should be celebrating. For that reason, I am requesting that the display be removed and that @ChelmsCouncil apologise for promoting it on social media. Yours sincerely, Janet Murray

Throughout my 75 years, I've seen Jewish, Irish & Chinese families et al settle here in Cheshire. 99% of them made a determined effort to find work, find a home and to integrate within local communities. Unfortunately, today's primarily single Muslim men prefer confrontation.

A handy guide if you’re a TV exec considering a “hard reboot” of a much-loved and highly-acclaimed TV property: 1. Hand in your notice. You’re clearly not competent to work in the business. Just f*** off and clean toilets or something.
So it’s being reported that @AmazonMGMStudio is considering a hard reboot to the Stargate franchise! Absolutely NO ONE wants this! I will actively boycott this! I want a Stargate that feels like Stargate, not something directed at Gen Z women. I am radicalized on this! It’s either Martin Gero or bust! I don’t want to see Stargate from someone who wasn’t involved in the original show. End of story.

This year the Home Office moved to stop expert sheep shearers from Australia and New Zealand coming to shear British sheep. The people who keep the animals comfortable were declared surplus to requirements. For over a decade, around 75 of the best shearers on earth have flown in each spring on a simple visa concession. In a few brutal weeks they take the wool off up to two million sheep. A top shearer clears a ewe in two or three minutes. Hundreds a day. Calm hands, no panic in the animal. It is a global trade and a young body's game, and Britain has never grown enough of its own. The official line? Fourteen years to train Britons, so the door is closing. Here is what that tidy sentence ignores. A sheep must be shorn every year or she overheats, cannot move properly, and gets eaten alive by flies and maggots. Shearing on time is welfare, plain and simple, written into law and into the animal's own skin. So a government that lectures farmers without pause about welfare has quietly made the most basic welfare task harder to carry out. After the outcry they allowed one "final" year. Then the experts are gone for good. A sector already losing money on every fleece, already burning wool it cannot sell, now told it cannot even get the people in to take the wool off. You could be forgiven for thinking somebody wants the British sheep gone.

This morning Britain woke up without a Defence Secretary. By this evening it had lost two more ministers. John Healey resigned because the Treasury refused to fund the defence of this country adequately. Pamela Nash, Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Defence Secretary, resigned in his wake. And Al Carns DSO OBE MC, the Minister for Veterans, resigned because he could not in good conscience ask fellow veterans to trust a process he no longer trusts himself. Read that again. A man decorated for combat service with a Distinguished Service Order, an OBE and a Military Cross resigned as Veterans Minister today because he knows the Defence Investment Plan is inadequate and cannot stand at a despatch box and pretend otherwise. His letter says we ask soldiers to fight for this country. In return we owe them the kit to do the job and the loyalty to stand by them when it's done. We are failing on both. Healey's letter says the country could be made less safe. Carns says the deal this country makes with the people who serve it in uniform is broken. Nash says the country is more divided now than at any point in her lifetime. Three resignation letters. Three verdicts. Written by people who were inside the room. The Chief of the Defence Staff wrote directly to the Prime Minister warning the money was not enough. The head of the British armed forces writing directly to Downing Street is not a routine communication. It is a signal of desperation. Starmer ignored it. Ed Miliband's net zero budget remains untouched. The welfare budget remains untouched. The DEI infrastructure embedded across British institutions continues to be funded. The £10 billion in asylum accommodation contracts continues. Every commitment that flows from the 2030 Agenda adopted without a single British vote at a UN summit in 2015 has been protected. The defence of the realm has not.

There is something beautifully pure about this.
In Japan, a stabbing scene works differently. Let me describe it without pride. A koban officer reaching a knife incident has one trained reflex: secure the blade, secure the bleeding. Who insulted whom is a question for detectives, tomorrow, at the station. The wounded man is not yet a suspect or a victim. He is a casualty. We have our own police failures — plenty of them. But I cannot imagine a Japanese officer telling a dying man "don't think you've been stabbed, mate" because the other party raised a social accusation first. Not because our officers are better people. Because nobody trained them to rank grievances at a crime scene. Training is a choice. Who made Britain's?

Actually it was in the money. Five new fans did join for each transphobic, racist, bigoted that quit. Unfortunately, no new fans joined to replace the millions of loyal and devoted fans that quit out of despair.
another did not age well article from @Variety "For every transphobic, racist, bigoted “Doctor Who” fan that we lose this season, there are going be three to five new fans who are coming in for the representation. So to those fans — who are not fans — I say, “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.”" variety.com/2024/tv/news/jin…

Get Woke, Go Broke.
Full disclosure I’m not a huge fan of Doctor Who. I’m more of a Star Trek, Star Wars and Stargate kind of guy. That said… I have enormous respect for the franchise and I remember how brutally the fan base was mocked by the progressive cast and people in charge. Seeing it fail so spectacularly is very satisfying. The fans revolted and won! The mockery that was done to your franchise and of you personally should not be forgotten. Demand higher quality entertainment! Demand they strip the preaching and mockery out of your show!

For eighteen months the BBC has been paying for a soundstage to be idle, while they’ve pretended that Doctor Who is still in production. Rent, insurance, hire of scaffold and stage electrical gear, RTDs salary. £Ms To lie to you. That’s your licence fee, right there.
"For the record: there was no script, I never wrote it, and no actor was ever approached to play the next Doctor. You may disagree; fine, sit in that chair and wait to be proved right. You'll wait a lonnng time!" #DoctorWho

He's not bothered about child sexual exploitation on Pornhub, OnlyFans, Roblox, or any of the countless platforms where children are groomed, abused, and exploited. He's not demanding tougher sentences for predators. He's not demanding the closure of sites that profit from sexual content children can access. He wasn't particularly interested when the BBC spent decades covering for prolific celebrity nonces or when LBC parade around government psyop whore Bonnie Blue. What he cares about is @X. Because X is where people get news, compare notes, share evidence, and discover that what is happening in one town is happening in another. From Penzance to Portugal - we are one. The pretence is that this is about "misinformation" and "encitement", but the actual target is the means by which ordinary people communicate with each other. They've tried destroying our pubs and our churches and communities - where we congregate and talk and unite. But we found somewhere else, so that has to be destroyed too. What they forget is that the British were organising long before mobile phones, the internet, social media, television, radio, or newspapers. For a thousand years we organised rebellions, uprisings, protests, petitions, and resistance movements armed with little more than word of mouth, churchyards, market squares, pubs, and messengers on horseback. The Iceni managed it. The Cornish managed it. The Levellers managed it. The Chartists managed it. The people who fought the Romans, the Vikings, the Normans, and every other power that tried to impose itself upon them managed it. If people are angry enough, they will find each other. They always have.

This is getting silly now. There's no way a family of a stabbed man organically comes out with these textbook perfect quotes from the Labour Manifesto. "We would like to add that migrants make valuable contributions to the UK, increasing GDP across the service sector by 3.4%. thanks to Emperor Starmer's wise handling of every issue"

How to fix Doctor Who. Wipe out everything post Peter Capaldi. Most importantly the horrific Timeless Children. The Dream Lord and The Valeyard are behind the non-events of the 13th, 14th, 15th, and stupid Fugitive Doctor. Better yet, just never mention them. Cast Hugh Laurie as the Doctor with a smoking hot actual female companion. You're welcome.
