First we needed censorship-resistant money and markets. Now, in light of the Anthropic Fable news, we’re going to need censorship-resistant intelligence. Crypto is the infrastructure to ensure we can openly access both.

In AI most people are still trying to use old maps on a new territory. Throw the maps away. It's time to draw new ones. The only way you can do it is walking the land.

Bashing Indian IT service companies for not building frontier AI is fair. But they were built for services. The real question is much sharper: Where is Tata’s Qwen? Qwen came from Alibaba — a company smaller than the listed Tata empire. Where is Ambani’s ERNIE? ( Baidu ) Where is Mahindra’s Hunyuan? Where is Adani’s Pangu? Where is L&T’s defence AI foundation model? Where is Birla’s industrial AI model? China’s established corporate giants are building frontier models. Alibaba built Qwen. Baidu built ERNIE. Tencent built Hunyuan. Huawei built Pangu. ByteDance built Doubao. iFLYTEK built Spark. So stop gaslighting people with “India lacks capital.” India does not lack capital. India does not lack engineers. India lacks a billionaire class willing to risk serious money on frontier AI. There is money for weddings, cricket, retail, ports, media, and political access. But when it comes to building India’s Qwen, suddenly everyone becomes a cautious accountant. That is the scandal.

the FUD on training economics in India is borderline harmful You don’t need multi billion clusters.. american open source leader has trained their 400B model by raising ~$50M (they have since then raised a bigger round) we should celebrate competence not jingoism
Today we drop Trinity-Large-Thinking. SOTA on Tau2-Airline, frontier-class on Tau2-Telecom, and the #2 model on PinchBench, right behind Opus. On BCFLv4, we're in the mix with the best. 26 people with under $50M raised and a ruthless pursuit of greatness. What this team just pulled off is nothing short of incredible. One hell of an accomplishment and I couldn't be more proud of Arcee. And we've got more to prove.

1/ This is the full story of how I found a JupiterZ RFQ vulnerability, extracted ~$45k in a controlled white-hat test, returned the funds, and worked with the teams involved to get the issue fixed and safely back in production. The One-Byte Heist 🧵

circa 1974, India: "Stop making loose comments. A nuclear weapon needs 2/3M $ Huge no of reactors, plutonium reprocessing facilities with millions $ in dedicated infrastructure, underground test sites and long-range missile delivery systems. India cannot build a nuclear weapon"
Stop making loose comments. A foundational model needs 50/60b $ Huge hyper cloud capacity with hundreds of billion $

With all due respect, this is pure cope. There's no magical way to train a smaller model. The scaling laws have solid mathematical underpinning that you cannot wish away. Do you think that the frontier labs have not attempted to get to a more efficient architecture? If the goal is to be frugal, we can post RL train off an open source base model. Has Zoho published anything? Why is the *most obvious* low hanging fruit not tackled?
This is big: all access to Mythos and Fable AI models disabled for everyone outside America. First thoughts: 1. Technology is the ultimate weapon. National sovereignty, national security, all of it is now about technology. 2. Globalization is dead and Bharat must find her own way ahead. We must keep these two ideas in mind. What can our government do right now? Ensure that orgs in India embrace smaller models, both Indian and Chinese open source ones. With a bit of effort, we can make them work. Anyway, why pay money to people who don't even want to sell to you? We must deepen our R&D. Sarvam has been on it and we have been on it but remember that the latest models cost not only huge GPU budgets to train, the GPUs themselves are restricted. So we can't afford the scale of money (of the order of $100 billion to even get in the game!) and even if we could come up with the money, we can't get all the GPUs. I would not like to ask the government to fund tens of billions of dollars on this anyway - the money has far better uses. Zoho has been pursuing alternative R&D approaches that are far, far less expensive but by its nature cutting edge R&D takes time and we are patient. I am confident we will get there. Any remaining people in India who have delusions about globalization should wake up now.

It's impossible to understand the mindset of someone who is angry that Elon became a trillionaire. How is this not inspiring? Why is this met with seething hatred and vitriol? ~4500 new millionaires were just created from SpaceX employees alone. He just broke the financial 4 minute mile for others. The public now gets to participate in upside over the next decades. When you see something like this, why do some minds jump to wanting to tear this down? You should feel INSPIRED and believe that YOU TOO can be successful. Before everything became politicized, Elon Musk was a role model to every kid who had ambition and wanted to be more. It was either "I want to be Steve Jobs," or "I want to be Elon Musk." Why do you now not want to be more? You got hurt somewhere along the way. Why not see something and say "I am going to do that too!" The hateful destructive coping crying mindset will NEVER improve your life. At least the other mindset gives you a CHANCE at a better future. Why not choose inspiration? Why not try at life again?

I strongly disagree with this. And I cannot believe how @NandanNilekani can be so short-sighted. Data and intelligence sovereignty should be a national strategic priority. Using AI models from foreign players will involve perpetually sending them all of our data, including use-case insights and user preferences.
India doesn't need to lead the world in building the most advanced AI models. But it must lead in ensuring benefits of AI are widely shared. @rvenk and I have an op-ed in The @EconomicTimes economictimes.indiatimes.com…
