World Bank List Tincan & Apapa Ports on Global Top 20 Improved Ports. The continuous improvement paradigm of the Dantsoho-led Management of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has received global recognition, as the World Bank, in its Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) for 2025, released in June 2026, listed Tincan Island Ports Complex and Apapa Port Complexes in the Top 20 Port Improvement category. The Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) provides a consistent, data-driven measure of global port efficiency by focusing on vessel time in port. It enables comparisons across ports and over time, helping identify where performance is improving and where challenges remain. This development is coming on the heels of the NPA's frontline contribution to the sustenance of the National Trade Surplus through its provision of the platform for Nigeria's successive attainment of trade surplus year-on-year since 2024, and most recently N7.54 trillion in the first quarter (Q1) of 2026, as reported by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). Responding to the reports, Dr. @AbuDantsoho said "With the investor-friendliness of President @officialABAT providing the gravitas needed for increased investment to implement our port infrastructure and equipment modernization drive coupled with the unflinching support from the Honorable Minister @FMoMBENigeria, @GboyegaOyetola, we have all it takes to advance the fortunes of trade and boost the national economy". openknowledge.worldbank.org/…

Infelizmente ele escolheu a pessoa errada….

Heavy Rainfall Floods Boko Haram Leader Bakoura Buduma’s enclave in the Tumbums killing fighters, women and Children By; Zagazola Makama Unconfirmed report from intelligence sources indicate that heavy rainfall has led to severe flooding in a suspected terrorist enclave in the Tumbuns area around the Lake Chad shores. The enclave is reportedly linked to a faction led by Boko Haram Leader Bakura Doro, also known as Abu Umaimata or Abu Umayma. According to the sources, the flooding, which followed days of intense rainfall, submerged parts of the settlement believed to be used by the group as a hideout. The development was said to have disrupted the activities of the fighters, with reports claiming that makeshift shelters were destroyed and some logistics items, including motorcycles and other equipment, were swept away by the rising waters. Some sources also claimed that casualties may have occurred as a result of the flooding, including women and children believed to be within the enclave. However, these claims could not be independently verified at the time of filing this report. It was further gathered that the affected area, located within the difficult terrain of the Tumbuns along the Lake Chad basin, is often prone to seasonal flooding during periods of heavy rainfall.

Lagos hotel, 3 other properties forfeited by drug kingpins auctioned at N6.1billion …It’s a clear message that cartels won’t be allowed to enjoy proceeds of their criminal trade, says Marwa A Lagos hotel and three other properties seized from drug kingpins by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and forfeited to the Federal Government through court processes have been auctioned for the sum of Six Billion One Hundred and Forty-Eight Million Nine Hundred and Sixty-Four Thousand Naira (N6,148,964,000.00) only. This was the outcome of a competitive bid process for the sale of eight assets forfeited by drug barons in parts of the country. While bidders who offered above reserved prices emerged winners of four of the listed properties, bids for four others failed because none offered up to the reserved prices. Announcing the winning bids at the bid opening ceremony attended by representatives of ICPC, Civil Society Organisations, auctioneers and bidders at the NDLEA headquarters in Abuja on Monday 15th June 2026, the Head of Asset Recovery and Management Unit of the Federal Ministry of Justice, Tamarantare Francis Ali-Bozi declared Tope Ojo and Tunde Olonishakin estate firm as winner of a six-floor hotel located in Victoria Island Lagos with N5.9 billion offer. Other winners include FSS Limited which won a property at Lekki Phase 1 Lagos for N219,500,000.00; A-BNB Global Innovations Limited which bid emerged winner of a block of flats located in Ejigbo Lagos for N104 million and Fazeen Global Link Limited which won a property in Akure, Ondo state for N29,360,000.00. In his remarks at the ceremony, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd) who was represented by the Agency Secretary, Shadrach Haruna noted that “public auctions such as this serve a broader national purpose. Beyond generating revenue for the Government, they reinforce public confidence in the rule of law, demonstrate accountability in the management of recovered assets, and send a clear message that criminal proceeds will not be allowed to remain in the hands of those who seek to profit from the misery and destruction caused by illicit drugs.” He assured that “the Agency remains steadfast in its determination to strengthen Nigeria’s asset recovery framework and to ensure that recovered assets are managed and disposed of in a manner that is transparent, lawful and beneficial to the public interest”, adding that “We shall continue to pursue drug traffickers, dismantle criminal networks, recover the proceeds of crime and uphold the rule of law without fear or favour.” Speaking on the integrity of the process, the NDLEA boss stated that “to further enhance transparency and public confidence in the process, representatives of sister law enforcement and regulatory agencies, civil society organisations, the media, prospective bidders and members of the public have been invited to witness the bid-opening exercise. The bids received for each lot will be evaluated against the approved reserve price, and the highest responsive bidder who satisfies all requisite conditions shall be declared the successful bidder. The entire process will be conducted openly, fairly and transparently in the presence of all attendees.” “The process culminating in today’s auction has been conducted in strict compliance with the provisions of the Proceeds of Crime (Recovery and Management) Act, 2022, the Public Procurement Act, 2007, and all other applicable laws, regulations and guidelines. Consistent with the Agency’s commitment to transparency, accountability and due process, all assets earmarked for auction were professionally valued by the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, the designated official valuer of the Federal Government.

Somehow, I am supposed to believe- the politician that introduced this man to public office, mentored him, supported him against all odds to become his successor- is a bad political godfather.
When you listen to Fashola, the conversation is always thought provoking, constructive and solutions centered. We indeed need a consensus on various issues in Nigeria.

As one of the people who ate the propaganda without fact checking, it makes sense now. You can't take a state from 36th in education to 2nd in one year. The same low quality teachers, the same low quality curriculum, the same low quality classrooms but we didn't question the process. Here's why we're where we are, we never question processes.
So it’s on record that WAEC threatened to delete Anambra student’s records over examination fraud. Smh, number one in waec indeed 😆

I have stopped going to South Africa for any international conferences for mainly 3 things. 1. Border police rudeness: Some years ago I was invited for a conference on conflicts in the Horn in South Africa. I showed email invite to the border policeman at the desk. He rudely asked: "but why can't you people hold your peace conferences in your homes. Why always come to South Africa?" - I think he had a point. Why must we? Second time it was worse - "But why are you Zomallis and Ethiopians always here." I reminded him I was actually Kenyan, and I was only in the country for 2 days for an international conference Reply: "Sheh, um, eh. But what is the difference" 2. As soon as locals figure out you are a black person, possibly African from another country, the automatic assumption is that you are an illegal migrant. You see immediate hostile reaction. Honestly, I found SA one of the most miserable places on earth in terms of peoples' attitude to foreigners. The visceral hatred towards fellow Africans is unnerving. Still one of the most beautiful geographies in Africa. 3. The state bureaucracy and departments filled with people who actually know very little about the outside world. Most of the best people who made South Africa an outward-looking African power are gone. All remaining are small-time apparatchiks stealing from the state and fat toads serving as diplomats. I feel sorry for South Africa.

It is profoundly heartbreaking to witness another surge of xenophobic violence in #SouthAfrica this week. Hundreds have marched on Parliament, thousands of families have been displaced, and lives have been tragically cut short. These include at least five Ethiopians killed earlier in the attacks, and five Mozambicans who died in Mossel Bay. Thousands more are now fleeing for their lives. To see South Africa turn to xenophobia is a tragic betrayal of the country's struggle for independence and freedom. African nations stood united to dismantle apartheid. Ethiopia proudly supported "Madiba," Nelson Mandela, in 1962 and issued him a passport so he could travel the continent. Other countries helped in many ways, including with political and financial support. Disagreements and grievances must be addressed by the justice system and the rule of law, never through vigilante violence and collective punishment. South Africa deserves better. Africa deserves better. Stop the hate. Protect the vulnerable. Uphold our shared humanity.

QUICK NOTE I am glad Nigerians are engaged in discussions about the management of the economy, both fiscal and monetary. This matters even more as we head towards the polls, dealing with the gains, pains and fears of the reforms implemented thus far. The post below is useful, but it also shows why economic issues require nuance beyond headlines. See...., the claim that the #IMF asked Nigeria to impose fuel and telecom taxes is substantially true, but incompletely framed. That framing may reflect the trust deficit that has built up over time with such statements, but we should not deepen it. We should help reduce it. The IMF did not simply say “impose fuel and telecom taxes now.” In its 2026 Article IV Staff Report, it said Nigeria may need further tax policy changes over the medium term, including increasing VAT, extending VAT to fuel products, rationalising tax exemptions, and introducing telecom excises. But it also added an important caveat. The timing of such reforms must consider poverty and food insecurity, and ensure that the cash transfer system is in place and funded. Paragraph 20, Fiscal Policy, page 17, states: “Further tax policy changes will likely be needed, such as increasing the VAT rate, extending VAT to fuel products, rationalising tax expenditures … and introducing telecom excises, to complement administrative gains. The timing of reforms must consider the poverty and food insecurity situation and ensure that the cash transfer system is in place and funded.” See: proshare.co/articles/imf-202… The Executive Board summary also notes that additional tax policy measures may be needed over the medium term, including to fund a scaled-up cash transfer programme for vulnerable households. Nigeria’s Executive Director also made the balancing point clear. The authorities are open to further tax policy adjustments, including possible VAT increases, VAT on fuel products, and telecom excises, but only when the cash transfer system is fully funded and operational, so the burden does not fall disproportionately on the vulnerable. See: proshare.co/articles/imf-com… via @proshare So, to the good people at @NigeriaStories, the “breaking news” version is not false. Perhaps, due to the editorial summary, it unwittingly overstated the message by omitting the IMF’s caveats on timing, sequencing, and social protection. Without holding brief for the @IMFNews or the @NigeriaGov, and without prejudice to the wider debate on whether taxes are the right solution, the more accurate framing is this: The IMF recommends that Nigeria consider further medium-term revenue measures, including extending VAT to fuel products and introducing telecom excises, but says timing should depend on poverty conditions and the readiness of funded cash-transfer protections. My regards.
