Could this be a drama? D promised R the Bengaluru Development Minister's role. HQ insisted on K as Bengaluru Development Minister. D truncated portfolio K isn't happy. R on cue made D's promise public. D "placates" R K in a quandry R & D happy What next, Karnataka?

EIRR, the very metric BMRCL is peddling to push the case for Ph3 double decker throughout is below the 14% threshold. And it was shown in 2023! 15% cost increase with 15% benefits decrease takes the EIRR to 13.5%. Ph3 meets the above through 3 yrs delay & reduced benefits.

Dear @MoHUA_India RITES have apparently noted that with the double decker Ph3 Bengaluru metro has an EIRR of 15.9%. 2023 DPR reports 15.34% EIRR just for Ph3 with 15% cost hike due to delay which has happened. BMRCL is very crafty, so carefully review. Cc:@Secretary_MoHUA

Welcome to the BMLTA Club @krishnabgowda BMLTA too is awaiting clarity for the last 3 years. Apparently the file is "stuck" in the former DCM office. Anyway when you eventually take charge, sort out the B-SMILE folks too with the same vigour you deployed on Tahsildars 🙏🏽

This morning Bengaluru got the good news of the PRR1 LOA issued. @lkatheeq also confirmed that metro provision exists for BMRCL to build. City must drop short, long tunnel & descope Ph3 double-decker to fund this PRR metro. Bengaluru must seize this great opportunity now.

Over to you @OfficialBMRCL Show leadership, get the DPR done and build it simultaneously with the PRR. This will connect Green Line and Blue Line. @DKShivakumar @Tejasvi_Surya @PCMohanMP - Now prove that there is political alignment across the aisle and get this done.
Replying to @solidview
A provision has been made for elevated metro as and when the BMRCL plans to take up construction of metro.

This will cut down congestion at Hebbal as airport bound West Bengaluru traffic can access the Airport through this road. Also indicates Tunnel Road is not required. Red Line, Orange Line, Blue Line relieves all the Hebbal pain points. This must be the city's primary focus.
Letter of Acceptance (LoA) has been issued to SNC for construction of the 21 KM package 1 of PRR1 on 12/06/2026. This road will connect Madavara near BIEC to the Ballary Rd. Work will begin soon.

⚠️ BMRCL Read the data. Your incompetence hurts Bengaluru commuters. Data isn't asking for double-decker throughout Ph3. It screams for integrated structures at intersections & traffic management. Got it? @Secretary_MoHUA - There is no case for double-decker throughout.

Bengaluru Metro Ph.3 Saga 2020: DPR commissioned 2022: State Govt approves Central Govt insists 3 coach trains for Magadi Road section citing LOW TRAFFIC. 2023: DPR revised 2024: Central Govt. approves State Govt wants double decker citing HIGH TRAFFIC Joke is on Bengaluru

In Sep 2023, Phase 3 metro DPR was concluded. The then DCM & BBMP suffered from acute Tunnel Vision at the time. BBMP spent ~50 crores in "studies" to propose car-centric unscientific infra. If Ph3 was implemented earnestly, 2028 inauguration was possible. Bengaluru #SpeakUp

Jokers at BMRCL don't want to believe IISc. So they hired: First Aarvee Consultants Next RITES Now IIT? @OfficialBMRCL - Go to Oxford, Cambridge or anywhere else & professional opinion will get you the same answer. And what is it? You mustn't both feed & tame the traffic.
IISc has been saying double deckers are a bad idea from the start. Now they've roped in an IIT to counter that opinion?

BMRCL are joking with Bengaluru. Why drop the station BMRCL? To make way for the short tunnel road? To welcome the long tunnel road? @Secretary_MoHUA - What's happening Sir?
Veterinary College Underground Station dropped from the Revised DPR of Red line. More importantly, also clarifies that Phase 3 tenders can't be awarded without centre's double decker approval. Report via: @ChristinMP_ moneycontrol.com/news/india/…

Idiotic planning and thinking of BMRCL will destroy the metro. BMRCL must demand that the Tunnel Road be dropped. Bengaluru will become a laughing stock of the world if it builds both the Tunnel Road and the metro parallel to each other. Just take a look at the alignments👇🏽
🚨 Bengaluru Metro has dropped one proposed station on 37-km Hebbal–Sarjapur corridor to reduce project costs & expedite central approval. The revised Phase 3A project cost has been cut to Rs 25,999 crore from Rs 28,405 crore. BMRCL has also roped in IIT Roorkee to study the impact of end-to-end double-deckers after @MoHUA_India raised concerns. The corridor, connecting Hebbal and Sarjapur, is awaiting final GoI clearance @PMOIndia @OfficialBMRCL moneycontrol.com/news/india/…

Sirf 25/- me .... @RLR_BTM - It is good that you are not the Transport Minister. You didn't solve anything there. How much money has the Transport Department spent on Court cases since 2016 on the Aggregator issue?

See the blue circled portion in the picture below. It is blank, isn't it? Why? Because BMRCL knows showing that number means saying: Double-decker throughout Ph3 corridor is NOT worthwhile. Then? BMRCL says the double decker has to be tolled. How much toll? BMRCL is 😶

Many naively believe that a double decker along the Ph3 metro corridor will remove congestion. It doesn't. It transfers congestion to other parts of the network. Proven science. Then how to remove congestion? Only through mode shift to public transport. Again, proven science.

Throughout the day 1 question bogged me. Is BMRCL a road contractor or the custodian of the metro? Sadly, on evidence, BMRCL is a road contractor. The evidence? It supports an unsustainable double-decker knowing very well that metro's FIRR gets halved. Tragic for Bengaluru

Thank God at least one party has formally demanded BMLTA approval for B-SMILE projects. Bengaluru must know that B-SMILE/BBMP crafted these unscientific projects via a heavily plagiarised 5.5 cr Feasibility Study. @NammaBNP has sought accountability on this and so should we.
BNP has submitted a representation to @GBAChiefComm @GBA_office and @B-SMILE, demanding that mandatory BMLTA approval be obtained before tendering or executing the proposed ₹3,100 crore flyover projects. Large infrastructure projects cannot proceed without transparency, public scrutiny, and proper planning. #bnp #bmlta #flyovers #tender #accountability

C'mon Bengaluru let's demolish BMRCL's double-decker Ph 3 idiocy through its DPR outputs. - Ph3 already delayed, costs go up - Reduces ridership - Reduces benefits EIRR goes lower than 14%. @MoHUA_India - You are expected to govern, not indulge fancy ideas from politicians.

Bengaluru, GoI is not set to okay this, it has only said it will expedite its decision. Upon review it will conclude that it isn't worth doing. The financial viability of the metro gets worse. BMRCL contractor lobbies are pushing for the unnecessary double decker throughout.
GoI set to okay #BengaluruMetro's Ph3 (44.65km) with a double-decker. RITES report pegs its EIRR—socio-economic viability metric—at 15.9%, down from 17.04% but above the acceptable 14%. GoI okayed Ph3 in Sept '25 but raised concerns after GoK added the double-decker. @WF_Watcher
