On May 5, 2026, the new SPEC CPU 2026 test suite was officially introduced for a comprehensive assessment of hardware performance. This standard replaces the outdated 2017 version and is adapted to current technical conditions, including the increased number of computing cores, new memory hierarchy, and the impact of modern compilers.
The updated software package contains 52 individual benchmarks, whereas the previous version included 43 tests. The total volume of source code used has increased to 16.7 million lines, which allows for much more accurate modeling of complex workloads, including data compression, machine translation, graph analysis, and bioinformatics.
The final performance score is calculated using a geometric mean to eliminate anomalous deviations in the benchmarks. The Lenovo ThinkSystem HR330A server with the Ampere eMAG 8180 processor has been approved as the base reference system. This ensures a correct comparison of the results of new tested systems with the performance of past generation equipment.
