3rd time in 3 years these trees on St Matthew's Piece are under threat! If you care about our precious green space please OBJECT to 24/0413/TTPO2 on applications.greatercambridg… see next post for link to background and more info @LGSpace#trees#cambridge
Sir David King, former Chief Scientific Advisor to UK Government, sums up why @GreaterCambs busway via Coton Orchard is flawed. "There are alternative ways... expressways either side provide that opportunity...[rather than] yet another roadway through the middle of a green area".
We all want better public transport but there is an alternative than to “destroy the sense that the #orchard has now, of being a historical place & where #trees are part of the design. Trees take up carbon dioxide, cause transpiration, produce cooling…” @Sir_David_King 🌳🚌❌✏️ change.org/p/save-the-green-…
Re “latest Rpt to @camcitco Planning Cttee (Presenting Officer Joanna Davies) appears to weight arguments in favour of removal of these three 100 year-old trees”. Closing argument of QueensColl barrister re felling trees impacting Nature Reserve “It was tree officer’s choice”.
Queens' College #Cambridge want to fell mature trees, three poplars and two healthy ash trees, in a protected open space next to #Paradise Nature Reserve - biodiverse bat conduit.
“It was the tree officer’s choice to fell them.”
Urgent please OBJECT to the unnecessary felling of 3 mature, magnificent trees in St Matthew’s Piece before the planning meeting this 2nd Aug. See details, reasons, how/who to email here mill-road.com/st-matthews-pi…@CPRECambs@BonkersBusway@FeCRA2
St Matthew’s Piece is a cool, tranquil mini woodland in our busy city. During the last hot summer it was noticeable cooler in this space. Thank you @cppf_pc for recognising the importance of these 100 year old trees in this conservation area
A Tree Protection Order has been urgently requested, councillors and tree officers are involved but watch this space, the @st_friendsof are literally doing so.
This glorious, huge, mature maple tree on St Matthew’s St needs you! Email friends.of.st.matthews.piece@gmail.com to join their supporters list and find out how you can save it! Trees like this are vital to our city! @CamCanopyProj@st_friendsof
