This was the @EnvAgency’s position on the development of Northstowe new town in August 2020. You have to wonder exactly what has happened since then to change their minds.

Coton may not be as pretty as some of the better known surrounding villages but it certainly done not deserve to have @GreaterCambs @SCLibDems C2C busway ploughed through it. Coton is supportive of better public transport but please use existing infrastructure.#ClimateEmergency

Happening all over the country and probably the world. Greenwashing at its worse? Better a 100 that thrive than a 1,000 that die. There are good groups out there like Tiny Forests and Avon Needs Trees that provide after care, but they seem to be in the minority when looking.
Rather than pushing for decarbonisation, my council @WestNorfolkBC planted 6000 trees - in May🤦 This week I checked 150 of them - 90% were dead. Of those, 15% weren't even properly planted in the ground. What a shocking waste of effort and money!

The Cam at Hauxton just outside Cambridge - looking well down. Thanks Rob for sharing .
Replying to @markrwilliamson
I'd say worse than extremely low' judging by the back weir at Hauxton on the Cam. There's still a little flow coming from the front of the mill. You can bet that even the last Miller would never have thought it would get this bad. How can we conserve the water when it's all gone?

To avoid upper Cam reaching all time low, flow is augmented from an aquifer borehole! STW outflow is most of what’s in the river but is so heavily laced with Phosphate that it is killing the natural ecology of the river. ⁦@Feargal_Sharkey⁩ ⁦@AquiferChalk⁩ ⁦

Doubling the (natural) water supply?
Wonder what Camb MP will say about National Drought Group? Many of his constituents have watched aghast as massive developments keep getting approved for this water stressed region & UK’s driest city. Spun as “doubling nature”. Who are they kidding!

It is widely known that CB City & SCambs are in a high water stress area. The UK is heading for drought orders. Plans to pipe water from elsewhere may not be possible to meet the needs of agreed & proposed growth. Time for a rethink? @cam_friends @CPRECambs
