The new GWOT memorial design just dropped on the National Mall. I’ve seen the renderings. I’ve read the explanations. And as a retired Green Beret who actually fought in that war, I’ll be direct. This one doesn’t land. I put together a full breakdown on why this design misses the mark and what honoring that generation should actually look like. Lets put this into perspective: - 12 out of every 100 of the American population served in war during WW2 in a force made up of volunteers and draftees. - 1.3 out of every 100 of the American population served in war during Vietnam in a force made up of volunteers and draftees. - 1 out of 130 of the American population served in war during our nations longest war, the GWOT, in a force made up of 100% volunteers. Look at that last statistic again. Every single one of us VOLUNTEERED to go to war before 9/11, in the days following, or at the height of the GWOT. Yes, I understand some IRR were called up, but those personnel also VOLUNTEERED prior to or during the war and honored their remaining MSO (Mandatory Service Obligation) One thing the GWOT generation is not, is squeamish when it comes to putting in work and putting motherfuckers in the dirt. Some of us loved the job and loved going to war. Don't get it twisted.

For my friends that have an issue with white-knuckling their pistol (example pic on the right), give this a try. Once you understand physically that it’s not going to jump out of your hand, the mental part will immediately click. All you need to do to retain the pistol is touch your thumb and middle finger. Then, return to your proper 2 handed support grip. You’ll see immediate improvement. Sometimes I describe grip pressure as holding a soft-boiled or raw egg. Your hands are locked firmly together, but don’t squish the egg between your palms. (Don’t do this with a Deagle!🤣) I’m not here to show off flashy stuff, so I went with something many people have. Before I go to bed … I backed away from the MST subject because honestly I was struggling for a while (which I have been very vocal about)… and here is why.. I was raped in 2010 by a fellow SNCO that I outed for raping children in a brothel in Korea while on an op out of Okinawa. That one rape exposed an entire network and I just couldn’t be silent. All of it came out. Everything. Everything that I had been through since I was 18 until that point… …an entire network that spanned from Oki to Pendleton to Lejuene to 29 Palms. Pictures. Hard drives. Brothels owned by SNCOs out on MEUs. Ship servers…Units with SARCs that were silencing reports. Trafficking of spouses and their children, trafficking of MST survivors, child abuse and so much CSAM that I honestly can never unsee even with years of treatment. I trusted my chain of command and reported all of it ….only to quickly realize that the military will go to every extreme possible to cover it up. Influencing peers, spouses, family members, and fit reps. I was dumbfounded as to why in tf I suddenly became a target for simply speaking up. Brakes sliced, death threats, my entire career taken from me when I had just put in a WO package… … the CO I reported it to became a General who pushed the vaccine and honestly… is a piece of shit because I know way more than that all the way back to his Lt days at CSSG-1. I requested mast and a chaplain showed up to my home (off base btw) to inform me what happens if i keep speaking up. That’s pretty much the only time I’ve told a chaplain to fuck off… and the first time I realized I was completely alone in all of it. Once the trial ended I landed in Yuma just to walk straight into a command that the SNCOs were complicit in trafficking of illegals (and their children) through buildings on base and I just…ya know… I finally broke. Traitors in the ranks didn’t just happen overnight and all these that didn’t get promoted had dirt on them and for the first time in history…. whistleblowers can ….in real time …see justice… even if it’s just a “passover” or “resignation”. I really hope that God has a plan because if not… yeah I just can’t even think that way. My story isn’t uncommon…it’s just that others were hidden, at a lower rank, or they committed suicide. BTW: That bro got his discharge upgraded by some scum lawyer that never contacted the military or victims. He became a realtor and is leading “veteran rides”.
