Hi European populist politicians, you want to push Syrian refugees back to these homes while foreign powers are still bombing and no one knows how and who will be governing the various regions of the country? It would be cruel and reckless. Those who can will voluntarily return.

Thousands ascended the hill to Sednaya Prison yesterday in search of loved ones taken by the Assad regime. They poured over prison records and pulled apart the concrete of “Assad’s slaughterhouse” looking for a second prison underground, but in vain.

I can't stand it when people say "the first Western journalist to report from". Who cares? What is it supposed to mean? That their reporting will be somehow better than the local journalists already there? Puts me in mind of colonisers "discovering" other people's countries.
