.....I believe there isn’t anything that can’t be taught outside, embracing the concept of the ‘outdoor’ classroom may be what saves us in September ... @lizgregugo @CreativeSTAR

Please #onted ... no good can come from this kind of “learning”. Nothing COVID-19 or Anti-Black Racism from TPT, no booklets, no worksheets... nothing even close. Please. Our kids deserve so much more. #authenticlearning #studentdriven

1/2 Takeaways from last nights #QuarantineEd chat... “You can only meet people as deeply as they have met themselves” And looking at financial literacy through an anti racism/equity lens. Financial literacy may shift based on different socio-economic status #povertyassumptions

And this, friends, is why we need Data Literacy 😂
This... Hurts... Me... 😬

Read this. Challenge and question everything we think we know. It’s time.
REAL perspective...we need to be having these discussions in our schools and critically challenging history and our system.

Let’s be honest. Curriculum is the last thing on my mind for September. September is about “how are you?”, “do you feel safe here?”, “what do you need from me?”, “what can I do in this space to ensure that you feel safe?” #communityfirst #mentalhealth #onted #traumainformed

Today is Juneteenth—a day for celebration and remembrance that should be part of our collective knowledge of freedom struggles in this country. May our educators and youth continue the fight to ensure that the promise of freedom is delivered. tolerance.org/magazine/happy…

This speaks to every part of my teaching pedagogy and our classroom community. I love this, so much.

We’re teaching kids how to be robots and fall into place in society. Every child should be taught according to what they are passionate about, and pushed in that direction. If we started from here the world would be a better place, a tree can’t bend when it’s fully grown.

Thanks @callmemrmorris and @MstrJayWill for #QuarantineEd chat tonight. Great listening and learning for my first time in. Heightened my learning around the intersectionality of gaps, and the concept of policy vs true equity work. Looking forward to next week!

This article is astounding and terrifying at the same time. That these moments continue to happen in classrooms. How? Why? We must do better for our children.
Educators newly committing to teaching more Black history or talking about racism need to understand that lessons and curricula, themselves, can be violent. Here is what curriculum violence looks like—and ways to avoid it. tolerance.org/magazine/sprin…

Yes. Please. I feel like I’ve been saying this for years. “Grades” have the ability to destroy little ones growing confidence. I’ve taught primary for years, and every time I write report cards I cringe. #onted #earlyyears
You could make an argument about how important grades are to high-schoolers; but in elementary school, does a kid really need to see an A, B, or C on a report card to figure out how they ought to position themselves in relation to others their age? #OntEd matthewrmorris.com/report-ca…

As teacher prep for next year I make a plea. Please don’t turn to Teachers Pay Teachers looking for “engaging” activities. The site is full of problematic and racist material that for whatever reason makes it through their thurough screening process 😒 1/?

This is how REAL change happens. When we have the courage to question aspects of our society to their core. Education is a white-central colonial structure. Perhaps it’s time to question our public education systems to their core.
🚨PEOPLE: It is really happening. The Minneapolis City Council *just* announced their intent to disband the Police Department & replace it w/ a new community-led system that truly prioritizes the safety & health of community. Transformation. Not “reform.”theappeal.org/minneapolis-ci…
