Shaykh Al-Allamah Muhammad Al-Makki Ibn 'Azuz Al-Maliki (RH) who was a judge and a very big scholar of his time, he is from Tunisia brought up in a scholarly environment in Algeria during the French occupation.
He joined the Zaytuni Institute at the age of twenty-two, in the year 1292 AH (1875 AD) and studied under very big maliki scholars (65 scholars).
He was a staunch Ashari and propagator of calling upon others (Jilani) than Allah.
During his time a certain Dawah was started by a scholar called " Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab".
After hearing all the rumours he heard about the "Wahhabis" and his open rejection and ignorance against them, the shaykh embarked to search for the truth and to look for the reality instead of relying on the rumours, which in result made him accept the truth an the correct aqidah, in a long letter he said: "....I had read the letters composed by Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab and his companions, and I saw what Al-Jabarti wrote in his "History" about their beliefs and biographies. It is nothing but the path of the Sunnah, which contains nothing to be denied.."
Besides him writing maliki fiqh works, he also wrote two treatises on the Salafi Aqidah called "Aqidatu At-Tawhid Al-Kubra".
May Allah have mercy on the Allamah and grant him Jannatul Firdaus.
