RT @LaylaMoran: I am desperately worried for my extended family in Gaza City. They have no electricity, no water, no food, and now a snipe…

Gaza's archives are gone. These archives documented a history deeply rooted long before immigrants from Eastern Europe arrived in our country.
The Israeli occupation destroys the central archive of #Gaza municipality, executing thousands of historical documents, and deliberately razing all life forms; erasing the city and its #history. It is worth noting that the archive holds #documents more than a hundred years old.

This is the darkest day we prayed wouldn't come. The terrifying forces that have now been unleashed on Gaza will mean the slaughter of untold numbers of innocents. History will judge the perpetrators of these horrific war crimes & all those who abandoned the Palestinian people.

Actually comical at this point. They've buckled before pressure from "landowners' groups". Actual aristocrats. You don't need (and won't get) the votes of the Countryside Alliance and 17 inbred Dukes, you pathetic bootlickers theguardian.com/environment/…

We may be witnessing the total obliteration of Gaza. Political leaders refusing to speak out should feel eternal shame over the horror they are allowing to unfold. Those of us who believe in peace cannot stay silent. We must say to the Palestinian people: you are not alone.

Journalists know what they're doing when they conflate protests against the Israeli occupation, and attacks on civilians in Gaza, with support for Hamas. But they're confident that the rules of fair coverage don't apply to Palestinians, or the British left who stand with them.

“The hospital resembles a slaughterhouse and the majority of casualties who are coming in are children.” I spoke to @TimesRadio for @MedicalAidPal about the deteriorating situation in #Gaza. The world must act to stop this.

Gaza’s hospitals - filled with critically injured children - are being cut off from power, food, water, and aid. Meanwhile, the bombs rain down. This is backed by the Tories and the Labour Party. We’re watching the West give its full complicity to a bloody, savage war crime.

What should be the jewel in the crown of European railway services is being wrecked, chiefly as a result of Brexit but also as a result of the same general malice/malaise that's destroying the rest of the GB railway:

We live in a grotesquely unequal society that concentrates wealth, status & power in the hands of a few. Real patriotism is about building a society that cares for each other and cares for all.

So, I find myself 30ft in the air up a tree in Wellingborough- surrounded by police, security & tree surgeons- trying to prevent an illegal tree felling. How did I end up here? Here’s an outrageous story of nature destruction & collusion between authorities & private developer 🧵

Not only can we not have nice things, we're fast approaching the point where we cannot even have rational discussion about whether to have nice things.
A real human being, a living, breathing, sentient human being has got so angry about the possibility of being able to nip out and back to the post office and the butchers in 10 minutes that they have painted this placard.

Full support for striking nurses, and their escalation of action. The government refusing to even open negotiations is beyond belief - or it would be, if the UK were anything like a healthy democracy. theguardian.com/uk-news/2023…
