What if we treated the abject failure of our systems of government as a liberating opportunity to reinvent them? What if, instead of the end of the world, we made it the end of the world as we know it? Get yourself a copy of #LivingDemocracy here: unsw.press/books/living-demo…

Oi, you. Yes, you. You do know how this works, right? Every post here creates value for the company. The company is now deliberately seeding and tending fascism. I’m gobsmacked how many good people are still using this platform as though nothing is happening. Time to leave.
I’m on the blue skies place with the same username (lucky me with a very unusual actual name) and I’m on the elephant place with the same username at aus social. Please join us over there. This place is a flaming cesspit and I just can’t do it anymore…

This was such a stimulating conversation with @AnthonyJamesNow for his wonderful #RegenNarration podcast. We talked about community, democracy, changing what’s possible, music and many more ideas emerging from my book, #LivingDemocracy. Give it a listen: regennarration.com/episodes/…

Excellent news. Govt has announced it will shelve Nature Repair Market Bill until at least end of the year. It needs to be dropped completely because it drives #Ecocide. It is bad policy based on Monetising #Nature. Thanks @YungEnChee1 @EuanRitchie1 @pollyjhemming #auspol

So the federal budget surplus is now $19bn. All the Greens are asking for is $2.5 billion a year for public housing and $1 billion a year to incentivise a freeze and cap on rent increases. The only one standing in the way of solutions to the housing crisis is Labor

This is a tremendous victory for common sense, for the Greens, and for all the scientists and environmentalists who shone a blazing light on what an appalling wrong move the #NatureRepairMarket was. Labor’s neoliberal agenda is collapsing. Maybe they should try governing?
Breaking! 🚨The Government’s “Green Wall Street” policy is in tatters. After a string of expert witnesses today who, like the Greens, raised fundamental concerns with the Nature Repair Market, the Govt has announced it will shelve the bill until at least the end of the year.

This, alongside the sham of the #NatureRepairMarket & ongoing approval of fossil fuel expansion, needs to be the nail in the coffin of the idea that @AlboMP or @tanya_plibersek are in any way credible on the environment This is another ecocidal government theguardian.com/australia-ne…

Wow. The offical Threatened Species Committee just told the Senate that Enviro Minister Plibersek has not even consulted them on how her 'Green Wall Street' scheme would protect animals or nature. Green Wall Street is a sham. Senate inquiry on now 👇 aph.gov.au/News_and_Events/L…

A reminder that fossil fuel companies Net0 pledges are meaningless and we need to stop pretending we can negotiate with them. We need to start regulating them.

Ok, will government have the maturity to admit they’ve got it horribly wrong & that _maybe_ listening to thousands of scientists about what _will_ work, might be better? theguardian.com/australia-ne… Or they could keep listening to those that only see questionable $$$$ opportunities.

The Labor government spends over $10b of public money every year subsidising the burning of fossil fuels. That’s how far we are from a genuine climate response in Australia. Labor remains captured by fossil fuel interests but surely they’ll get mugged by reality at some point 👇

Hmmm, @BernardKeane in today's Crikey completely misses the mark. The EPBC Act actually gives a Minister incredible discretion, creating plenty of opportunities for a Minister who actually wants to confront the climate crisis to do so. Nice attempt to make excuses. No dice.

Angry that Environment Minister @tanya_plibersek approves new coal mines? Unlike you, @bernardkeane points out, she has to work under legislation and consider the consequences [FREE TO READ] #auspol crikey.com.au/2023/06/28/tan…
