What employment rights? What decent employment rights do not exist? Have you stopped to consider that flooding the jobs market with millions of cheap foreign workers removes the incentives for employers to improve the working environment? If it was a worker's market the employers would be bending over backwards to attract staff and they would volunteer employee benefits that you wouldn't even dream of asking for. Instead you backed Labour when they fought against toughening migration laws.

The threat from radical Islam is not just terrorism. Islamists seek to subvert our society and our democracy. But what we have is worth defending. We have to fight back.

Dammit. Miliband was on resignation watch?? It's just one failure after another letting that opportunity slide.
EXCLUSIVE from @oliver_wright Keir Starmer was blindsided by John Healey's resignation as defence secretary because he was far more worried about Ed Miliband and Rachel Reeves   Miliband was on “resignation watch” after he refused repeatedly to meet Starmer to discuss planned cuts to his net zero agenda. The fear was that the energy secretary would use the announcement to quit and publicly throw his weight behind Burnham   Extraordinarily No 10 was also worried about Rachel Reeves, the chancellor, who had been strongly arguing for a much smaller defence uplift of “single figure billions”   Reeves was said to be so angry about the move to take money from other departments’ spending plans to top up defence that she had refused to take part in the process of drawing up the cuts   While her allies said Reeves had worked “constructively” on trying to find the money, tellingly it was No 10, rather than the Treasury, that negotiated cuts to infrastructure budgets.   “It went well beyond what Rachel wanted,” said one No 10 source. “John [Healey] knew how difficult it was and how hard the prime minister worked to get it up to £13.5 billion.” Our weekend read on how John Healey’s resignation blew a hole in Keir Starmer’s survival strategy: Healey’s resignation is deeply damaging for two reasons. First, until now, Healey has been as loyal as they come, resolutely defending the prime minister time and again on the broadcast rounds But far worse was the timing. Starmer’s whole survival strategy was predicated on playing up his national security credentials. The plan had been to launch Dip before next week’s G7 summit at Evian in France and use the event to present Starmer as the man who could take the “big decisions to make the country safe” It was deliberately designed to contrast Starmer with the inexperienced mayor of Greater Manchester, giving Burnham and Labour MPs at least a few second thoughts about an immediate challenge Instead the prime minister heads to Evian with that entire strategy in tatters and a date with President Trump that could be excruciating “The survival plan has been totally demolished by Healey,” a senior Labour figure said. “Starmer’s strongest card was as the man who can take the big decisions to keep the country safe and Healey has accused him of putting the country at risk. It is hard to see how we go from here.” thetimes.com/article/fc89861…

Why do all the Labour government ministers act like they will go down in history as heroes? Labour will be wiped out at a general election and they'll be lucky if they don't face criminal prosecutions once the books are opened for everyone to see. I can only assume they are relishing in duper's delight.

I’ve referred Lord Hermer to the Bar Standards Board. He went after British soldiers despite warnings murder allegations were false. He knew what he was doing: he sought "wriggle room if the killings did not happen." It says everything that Starmer made him Attorney General.

‼️ Honestly *sigh* People are moaning about Elon Musk becoming a trillionaire and saying he should spend his money solving the world’s problems…. Let’s look at that. The UN Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals have required global investment of $5–7 trillion EVERY YEAR since 2015, about $75–105 trillion over the 15 year programme. Brilliant! … and has our money solved anything? Er no…. Many regions have become even poorer, hungrier and more desperate. Debt has increased (including ours) food insecurity is widespread, and millions of people are still trapped in poverty. Oh. So instead of bitching about where Elon might spend his money, perhaps start asking where our money has been spent! Because it bloody hasn’t solved anything! And, if $75–105 trillion hasn’t solved the world’s problems, maybe the problem isn’t Elon Musk. And maybe we are being fucked over. Seriously … you should read my book 💣

Elon just created 4,400 millionaires in a single day. 400 of them are now worth over $100 million. These aren't VCs. They're SpaceX employees, and the list includes welders, technicians, and cafeteria staff, because for two decades the company paid every level of the workforce in stock instead of higher salaries. Juan Hernandez immigrated from Mexico and took a $28 an hour contractor welding job in 2015. He says he didn't even know what SpaceX was. The company gave him a $10,000 equity grant and let him buy more shares through payroll deductions. That stake is now worth $880,000. Trevor Hise's parents wanted him to take a stable job at General Electric. He picked SpaceX instead, stayed 12 years, and accumulated over 100,000 shares. At the $135 listing price that's $13.5 million. He's 37 and semiretired. His words: "The magnitude of this has been ridiculous." The most telling detail came before the listing. Over 100 employees quietly banded together and negotiated a group wealth management deal covering up to $5 billion, because none of them had ever needed a wealth manager before. Software IPOs have minted millionaires for 30 years. This is the first one where the money went to the factory floor.

Labour have appointed a new adviser at the Ministry of Justice. And she has extreme views. She called Henry Nowak's murder “useful” to the Right, and the public reaction to two-tier justice “dangerous”. This is someone who should be nowhere near our justice system. 🧵

Here is something nobody in Westminster will say out loud. Your bill is high on purpose. Wind and solar can't reliably power the country. Rather than fix that, the government made energy expensive so you'd use less of it. Keep demand down to match the unreliable supply. 77% of the increase in your energy bill since 2004 has nothing to do with the cost of fuel. It is charges designed to manage a broken system,

Boris Johnson scrapped "British jobs first" rules in 2019. Labour promised change but they kept Johnson's rules. Now they're subsidising foreign hires on top of that. You can't put working people first while fast-tracking everyone else.

She's poor and white. That was enough for the Press to assume she was lying. Nothing ever changes.
A young girl in Scotland who defended herself against migrants, only to be vilified by the media, has now been vindicated in court. Those same migrants were found guilty of directing sexual remarks at the girls. The British media owe her and her family an apology.

The big question - Is there an off ramp? I think there is but it depends on a type and strength of political leadership which is very short supply, an end to pretence, and would require sacrifices from a general public unaccustomed to forgoing jam today for a better tomorrow.

"The UK is racist!" The UK is so insanely non-racist that you have to reach the point of men being beheaded by Sudanese jihadis and tens of thousands of British girls being raped and tortured before we even consider doing something about it.
