✅ Course on Biopsies - How to Obtain Biopsies in the Setting of Infectious Esophageal Ulcers
HSV = herpes simplex virus
CMV = cytomegalovirus
Highest diagnostic yield is obtained by obtaining 6 biopsies, three form the ulcer edge (for HSV) and three from the base (for CMV).

Don't forget that you have to test for eradication after completing therapy. Don't test for eradication unless patients is 4 weeks out from COMPLETING antibiotics and has been off PCABs or PPIs for 2 weeks, too. OK to use H2RAs for 2 weeks prior to doing stool antigen for hp.
