Bridging Care Through Collaboration: Rwanda NGOs Forum Visits Kigali Mental Health Referral Centre
When recovery is the goal, no single institution can walk the journey alone.
This week,
@RwandaNGOForum paid a courtesy visit to the Kigali Mental Health Referral Centre (
@KigaliMentalHRC ), not as observers, but as partners committed to standing alongside communities too often pushed to the margins, especially people who use drugs.
Our visit was anchored in three intentions:
🔹 To explore concrete areas of mutual collaboration that strengthen treatment and recovery pathways.
🔹 To listen to and understand the real challenges KMHRC faces, and where civil society can help bridge them through community mobilization and family engagement.
🔹 To witness what works: best practices, treatment successes, and the lived experiences of beneficiaries whose voices remain central to meaningful care.
The recovery process is not only clinical. It is dignified care that meets people where they are.
In that spirit,
@RwandaNGOForum provided water treatment materials, ensuring patients, including people who use drugs, can access safe drinking water while receiving services at
@KigaliMentalHRC . A small contribution, but one rooted in a larger truth: dignity lives in the details.
At the heart of this engagement is a conviction we hold firmly: that collaboration, partnership, and genuine co-creation with community members are how we close the gaps across the entire continuum of care for key and vulnerable populations.
When families are engaged, communities are mobilized, and lived experience is honored, recovery becomes not just possible but shared.
Together, we bridge care.
