A very good book -- there is undoubtedly a future for intellectual work, but perhaps not in the form we have grown used to. Congratulations @cwellmon!

I assess true Great Power status using four criteria (The Four Rs) 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇨🇳🇷🇺: Resources (economic, military, demographic strength), Reach (global influence and power projection), Reputation (recognition by others and belief in their own status), and Resilience (capacity to absorb shocks and sustain competition over time). basicbooks.uk/titles/brendan…

Grateful to have this out in @IntSecHarvard. @jessicacweiss and I show how Cold War analogies obscure more than they reveal about US-China relations. 1/6

Why do nuclear dominoes not fall? The common wisdom holds that each new proliferator goads its rivals into following suit, but they rarely do. @the_nuclearyogi and I argue that this gap between expectation and reality cannot be explained by the cost of nuclear pursuit alone. 1/6

My book will be published by Cambridge University Press this September! There is growing debate over whether federal employees should be easier to dismiss in order to make them more responsive to presidential directives. What would be the consequences of such a change?
