The question I am submitting is: "Will each of the six trustees — who have so far refused to meet with the district's Inclusive Education Working Group — agree to do so and hear their (excellent!) presentation prior to approving the 2025/26 preliminary operating budget?"

That's is an absolutely inappropriate tweet by trustee @alfredchien1. This board has been appallingly unresponsive to sincere and desperate advocacy from parents whose children's educational needs are not being met by the @VSB39. He needs to apologize to them and the @VanDPAC.

South Vancouver DESPERATELY needs more swimming pools. A motion for a new one was recently voted down. This community, comprised of families and older residents, is drastically underserved. dailyhive.com/vancouver/sout…

This looks very promising for schools.
The motion is good! Ultimately staff will decide what happens, and how much is paint versus concrete, but we will hear back in June to see how far this goes. 🤞 Send your comments or sign up to speak in support here: council.vancouver.ca/2024052…

Yet the budget proposed for next year includes an 8.6% reduction ($1.6 Million) in substitute staff (‘TOCs’) and a decrease in the salaries for counsellors. Not a single proposed motion has been drafted by trustees to address these key budget shortfall. 2/4

Thanks for the update Lenny.
Happy to provide an update: ✅Speed reduction to 40km/h on W 16th (between Wallace & Discovery): expected spring 2024 ✅Crosswalk & signage: expected summer 2024 ✅Flashing beacons: expected late 2024 or early 2025 at the latest ✅Signal re-timing for slower walking speeds at the pedestrians signals at Camosun & 16th and Crown & 16th: expected Q2 2024 Additional steps are considered, including but not limited to: additional traffic calming measures; extending the west median to reduce crossing distances and extending the east median to eliminate select turning movements (Curb bulges might be challenging with the bus stop); review signage improvements to clarify areas for pick up/drop off, bus zones, corner clearances, .etc.; request to ICBC: share school’s request for a speed camera at Wallace & 16th; request to police and Parking Enforcement: support with enforcement, including a request to the Speed Watch program

Big thanks to @wrychrd for saying that a LOT of people live on arterial roads & deserve quiet, safe streets. The 15 yo Lord Byng student that was struck in January was hit on 16th which is an arterial with 3 schools on it. We need to think about solutions to make arterials safer.

This motion is relevant for all residents who live in Van, but I think it’s particularly important for VSB families. Vision Vancouver is asking people interested in improving road safety to write to Mayor and Council, preferably today before 5 if you can. visionzerovancouver.ca/2024/…

Great news. This is a change the @SquamishNation requested for Henry Hudson Elementary.
The new Henry Hudson elementary school in #Kitsilano is in the midst of construction. But its design is now changed to increase its capacity by 145 students to a total of 535. This school directly serves #Senakw, one block away. #bcpoli #vanpoli #vanre dailyhive.com/vancouver/henr…

I really hope VSB trustees are paying attention to the number of EAs that have been cut this year from VSB schools. So many parents across the district reporting drops in support to kids. @victoriajungvan,@reddyforchange,@janetrfraser @RichardsonYVR.#bced tupperpac.com/letter-to-trus…
