Hello @JeffBezos, since you question the results of our studies on the unfairness of the US tax system, please allow me to remind you of the main conclusions of our work, the most comprehensive research to date on this issue.
Yes, the United States has the most progressive tax system in the world. The top 1% pay 40% of taxes, the bottom 50% pay 3% of taxes. We can make it even more progressive by zeroing out taxes on the bottom half. It’s a small amount of the total tax revenue but very meaningful to people in this group.

We can have a moral, and also purely materialist, commitment to confront climate crisis, which is in the interest of global working class, and non-human nature. And then we can talk about the best strategy to achieve that, which might not always involve explicit climate rhetoric.

Economics can either enable the slide toward fascism, or defend affordability, dignity, and democracy. I wrote ANTI-FASCIST ECONOMICS with my baby by my side—a constant reminder that the future should be livable for all. Out in October with @randomhouse.

Leaning lots from Stephanie and the Baltimore Neighborhood Exchange in this session. They’ve enabled 14,000 people in Baltimore to invest in local businesses - an awesome win.

This is a great win for public transit in Ohio City!
This is the way! Between Detroit and Monroe is the most important part of the corridor to get bus lanes. Without it, the whole project is virtually pointless.

The law that empowers Trump is Clinton’s, the paramilitary that Trump deploys was built by Bush jr and Obama. The war on drugs is half a century old. And it was Clinton who both militarized the border and turned “illegal alien” into a term of political art. So sure, Trump.

By almost every measure, the great state of Ohio is failing its people. We can either change direction, or keep going with all the failed and corrupt policies that are making life so tough for Ohioans. The choice in this election—and the stakes — could not be more clear.
Once a political and economic powerhouse, Ohio is now expected to lose 675,000 people by 2050, the state Department of Development said. That's due to lack of sufficient job opportunities, an overwhelming majority of economists said in a recent survey ohiocapitaljournal.com/2026/…

With the world's eyes on US oil interests, let's not forget who benefits from fossil fuel profits: The richest of the rich. Our research shows: 50% of the record fossil fuel profits in 2022 went to the wealthiest 1% of US Americans, the bottom 50% only received 1%.

The Tooze tweet on solar/wind/batteries vs the rest prompted me to look into generation investment in China. Per @EIAgov, China added 34 GW of nuclear between 2014 and 2023 and 277 GW of solar in just 2024 (more than double the amount of total installed solar in the U.S.).

This is impacting my district on Christmas Eve. PG&E is focused on investor profits over California residents. They have paid off Sacramento politicians. It's time to make it a customer owned utility.

Thune: "If the Democrats had won the majority, they probably would've tried to nuke the filibuster. And then you'd have four new senators from Puerto Rico and DC, you'd have a packed Supreme Court, you'd have abortion on demand ... "
