There is no world in which we break from the dems effectively without using the party surrogate to its fullest heightening these contradictions within the dem establishment and forcing the party system to collapse in onto itself to prevent us from winning
DSA candidates are running on Democratic Party ballot lines. Just like we would expect the Republican Party to not allow KKK candidates to run on the Republican line, Democrats should not allow DSA candidates to run on the Democratic line. If we let skunks into our big tent, we will ruin the party for all.

Honest question - why doesn't DSA form its own ballot line?

The annoying thing about the "DSA should start its own party" discourse is the fundamental misunderstanding of what a political party is in the US. The Democratic Party is just a ballot line controlled by the voters in each constituency's Democratic primary. That's all it is.

An ex-Clinton staffer is equating socialists that New Yorkers have elected year after year, including our mayor, with a violent terrorist group. The KKK lynched people; trivializing that history is utterly disgusting and deranged.

Is Neera Tanden that ignorant of the US political system? We have something closer to a no-party system than a two-party system but insanely undemocratic ballot lines. So those of us seeking to make change have formed party-like membership orgs within existing ballot lines.

Really wish socialists who are always complaining that DSA needs to form its own ballot line would internalize just how much the Democratic establishment wants us to do exactly that
I am definitely sympathetic to the adventures of shitposters but someone tweeting "F**k Kamala Harris" should simply be disqualified from winning a Democratic primary. Run in another party primary. New Yorkers, get it together. nytimes.com/2026/06/14/nyreg…

Delusional
The Democratic Party must take the DSA threat seriously if it wishes to remain nationally competitive and not descend into a regional insurgent media spectacle. One way is banning DSA candidates from the primary process, or at least ban them from the VAN voter database.
