For the first time in our organization’s history, SCBFA is proud to endorse Senator @ScSenGoldfinch for South Carolina Attorney General. 🇺🇸🎣 Goldfinch helped cut the nation’s highest boat taxes, fought for state-based fisheries management, funded marine fisheries, and pushed back against federal overreach impacting South Carolina boaters and anglers. SC’s most effective congressman has weighed in! @RussellFrySC knows we need @ScSenGoldfinch as AG. I’ve seen Russell & Stephen fight federal overreach together, from Biden’s 10-knot boat speed rule to protecting offshore fishing access in SC.
Thank you to Congressman @RussellFrySC for your endorsement and support. I’m honored to have Russell on our team as we fight violent crime, support law enforcement, and protect South Carolina families. Let’s get to work.

Public comments on NOAA’s Vessel Speed Rule close TOMORROW, June 2. 🐋🛥️🇺🇸 As SCBFA President & CEO @RGettysIII told @CatrinEinhorn with the @nytimes: “Regulations that were written 20 years ago shouldn’t remain frozen in time despite major advances in technology. In 2008, most people didn’t even have smartphones yet.” We can protect right whales while embracing updated science, modern technology, and practical solutions that protect boating access and coastal economies. Thank you for your continued hard work fighting for South Carolina anglers, boaters, and businesses, @SenatorTimScott 🫡 Make no mistake: halting public access to our waterways hurts jobs, coastal communities, and South Carolina’s outdoor economy.
At the eleventh hour before the start of Florida’s Red Snapper fishing season, a DC judge blocked recreational Red Snapper fishing in the South Atlantic. Our coastal communities in South Carolina know how to protect our waters better than Washington bureaucrats hundreds of miles away. I’ll continue fighting to protect our local anglers and their livelihoods from federal overreach.

As always, @RepRussellFry, is spot on.
On what was supposed to be the start of an exciting weekend for anglers across Florida and the Southeast, an activist Obama-appointed judge issued a last-minute injunction blocking the EFPs authorizing recreational red snapper fishing in the South Atlantic. Families, charter captains, bait shops, and anglers have spent weeks preparing for this season only for one judge in Washington, D.C. to shut it down from the bench. It’s outrageous. A federal judge sitting hundreds of miles away does not know our waters better than the men and women who fish them every day. America’s sportsmen and anglers are the original conservationists, and bureaucrats and activist courts should respect that. I stand with @MyFWC, @NOAA, and Commerce Secretary Lutnick against this politically motivated delay. We will keep fighting until this decision is overturned on appeal.

Last night, in the 11th hour, a DC activist judge sided with environmental groups trying to shut down recreational anglers’ access to our waterways and halt red snapper season. We appreciate @AGAlanWilson for standing up for SC boaters & anglers. Control belongs to the states.
For years, anglers across the Southeast have fought to protect access to our waters while left-wing environmental groups pushed policies that threatened it, from the Biden Administration’s proposed 10-knot vessel speed rule to sweeping bottom fishing closures. South Carolina has stood in their way. Now, those same activist organizations have filed suit to stop the Trump Administration and NOAA from allowing South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia (@ChrisCarr_Ga), and Florida (@AGJamesUthmeier) to move forward with the South Atlantic Exempted Fishing Permits (EFPs) for red snapper fishing. This is no longer just about conservation. It’s about control. South Carolina anglers should not have their livelihoods, access, and traditions dictated by liberal environmental activists pushing flawed federal policies onto Southeastern states. We believe state-led science and management produce better outcomes, and South Carolina can gather accurate, real-world data through the EFP process. We’re going to keep fighting to keep South Carolina anglers on the water.

Thank you, @AGAlanWilson, for joining Florida and Georgia to fight for our anglers’ access!
I joined a multi-state legal brief to defend South Carolina’s fishermen, coastal economy, and recreational fishing industry from federal overreach. Washington bureaucrats do not know our waters better than the people who live and work on them every day. South Carolina should be leading the management of our red snapper and reef fisheries, not unelected officials in D.C.

NOAA is reviewing the 2008 Right Whale Vessel Speed Rule. Boaters, anglers & coastal businesses can weigh in. After successfully fighting a damaging 2022 expansion, we’re urging smart updates: better science, modern tech, and balanced rules that protect whales and boating access. From 2 to 62. NOAA Fisheries has approved South Carolina’s EFP, allowing a 62-day red snapper season in federal waters off S.C. from July 1-August 31. 🎣 1 fish per angler 📏 20-inch minimum 🌊 Federal waters off S.C. After years of one- and two-day seasons, these state-led EFPs will help SCDNR gather better data and use sound science to guide future fisheries management decisions. More information from SCDNR coming soon. #BoatFishSC

Thank you, @RepWesterman and team!
Another win for America’s recreational fisherman 🐟 Last week, @POTUS and @NOAA announced the approval of Exempted Fishing Permits for Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina for the 2026 recreational Red Snapper season. This decision will allow each of the states to lead the management of recreational fishing for red snapper, ultimately leading to longer fishing seasons. This is a win for anglers in the South Atlantic region and the coastal communities that depend on a sustainable and robust ocean economy.

Thank you, Lt. Gov. Evette! SCDNR will lead the way. State management is sound management.
When I joined President @realDonaldTrump at @SportsmanBoats in 2023, he promised to roll back the misguided regulations hurting our federally managed fisheries. And today, he delivered. The South Atlantic will now see a record number of red snapper fishing days in 2026. Grateful for the leadership and insight of @BoatFishSC and @SCDNR in this hard-fought victory. 🚤🎣💪

Big win for South Carolina’s fishermen. Thank you to @POTUS @realDonaldTrump for cutting through the red tape and delivering for our anglers. For years, the Biden administration ignored the data and kept seasons short, limiting access and hurting our coastal communities. This is what happens when leadership puts people over bureaucracy. I’ll always stand with South Carolina’s fishermen.

Promises Made. Promises Kept. Back in 2023 at @SportsmanBoats, we met with President @realDonaldTrump about fixing red snapper and bottom fishing regulations. Today, that conversation is turning into action — with South Carolina set for a 60 day snapper season. Stay tuned.
