If banning social media for U16s means linking a profile to an ID to verify age then I think that's all the more reason to do it.
If you are worried about legal repercussions of what you are saying on SM then that's a pretty good hint that you probably shouldn't be saying it.

Dartmoor ponies could be subject to mass culling to reduce the impact on biodiversity after a controversial ruling by the government’s environmental quango
Natural England has demanded that all livestock grazing on the moor is reduced by about 75 per cent to protect other habitats, plants and species
The move looks set to result in the culling of up to nine in ten of the semi-wild ponies as farmers prioritise their own cattle and sheep to remain within Natural England’s limit to minimise the impact on their own livelihoods
Natural England argued that the move was necessary to protect the diversity of Dartmoor, which is a designated site of special scientific interest
However, the plan goes against a government commissioned review into the future of Dartmoor, published two years ago, which concluded that Natural England “should not take actions likely to result in a reduction in pony numbers”, adding they were “invaluable for conservation grazing”
The move has led to claims that the quango is acting as judge, jury and executioner of the ponies — a species which is itself seen as endangered

Today marks 10 years since one of the most politically significant murders of a politician in UK history: the murder of Jo Cox. That took all momentum out of the euref campaigns just at a moment Leave was pulling well ahead, leading to a much closer result (4% vs perhaps 8-10%).

Upon learning of Starmer's crusade against children under 16 watching YouTube, my 10-year-old son commented: "He's proposing it now because his own children have just turned 16."
This surprised me, as I wasn't even aware or remembering he had children. I looked it up and apparently he has two, born in 2008 and, crucially, 2010!
So far, I found it the most revealing comment I heard about the whole shebang.

So YouTube is effectively a streaming TV channel in our house, like Netflix or HBO. Labor's ridiculous attempts to ban it for teenagers, when we watch it together at home, will just bring the law into disrepute.
Pointless, ill-thought-out change, from a pointless leader.

Parliament should reverse the decision to proscribe Palestine Action urgently before we see large numbers of elderly people in particular being dragged before our courts. Classifying protest through direct action as terrorism brings Parliament & our judicial system into disrepute

Extremely pleased and relieved that this Labour Gov is banning social media for under-16s.
As a mum of a pre-teen, it’s the thing that keeps me up at night. I know many of my constituents feel the same. That’s why I called for a ban, and I am delighted we’re implementing one.

Tools for blocking social media on a child’s device already exist, and government intervention was not necessary to alleviate Ellie’s nighttime stress.
