That’s not what I’m saying here. It takes longer because the state sends mail in ballots to everyone, allows them to be postmarked on the day of the election, allows 7 days for them to be returned and then 10 days to “cure” signature verification issues. That’s a policy choice. The state could choose not to allow all of that & the count would go faster. I’m not endorsing or opposing the policy…just explaining how it works.
Election results haven’t started rolling in yet, but legends @Bob_Shrum and Sal Russo already had plenty to say about California and races nationwide on “2WAY Tonight.”
We dug into:
The Palisades fire and what it reveals about governance under Karen Bass, and how voters are processing the lingering fallout.
Graham Platner’s scrutiny in Washington, as Democratic senators sidestep questions about his past amid mounting questions around his campaign.
And AIPAC funding and the tensions around it, in a political landscape that looks very different from its once-stable bipartisan backing.
Then on “Capital Intel,” @Mark_Penn joined me to break down the latest @HarrisXdata polling.
Key findings: Trump’s approval holds steady at 43%, with broad support on Iran policy.

Galas honoring political strategist and scholar Bob Shrum raise nearly $1M in support of civil discourse.Very grateful to USC and to all who supported the Center. The gift you are giving to our students is priceless. dornsife.usc.edu/news/storie…
Gordon Brown's dad told him a joke:
A minister's choice of hymns varied after local elections.
If the minister's party won, his congregation would sing, 'Now Thank We All Our God'.
If the other party won, they'd sing 'Dear Lord and Father of Mankind Forgive Our Foolish Ways'.
New: The general election for California governor could very well be between the two Republicans, predicts USC professor Christian Grose.
“The probability is probably about 1 in 5, I think, possibly higher now,” said Grose, who's at the center of the canceled debate drama.
Brilliance, literary steam, historical perspective, care for people, great judgment, stamina, and hope for progress—thank you & all the best, @BobShrum !
TSA wait times are VASTLY different depending on the airport.
At some places, like @flyLAXairport, it’s only a few minutes in recent days with the very same funding challenges as other cities.
Why are some airports handling it so much better? What can be learned from them?
I am going to miss @BobShrum moderating USC political, policy, and current event talks, especially, the Herb Kline Lectures.
Huge loss for USC & its community.
He is the best of the best. Best of luck to Mr. Shrum in his retirement.
