Nobody wants encampments. The difference is that I advocate for solutions that respect that people are rights-holders we have abandoned, not criminals. You advocate not for real resources, but for the disappearance of people without addressing why they even become homeless.
We have normalized delinquent, disorderly behaviour in our cities for too long theglobeandmail.com/opinion/…

Buried in Doug Ford's fall budget are changes that will remove parts of Wasaga beach from provincial protection. As I reported in August, those parts are 60% of the world’s longest freshwater beach and the main nesting area for the piping plover: thenarwhal.ca/wasaga-beach-o… #onpoli

It's a policy choice. Either we pay a smaller amount to end homelessness in Ontario or we can pay a huge amount more for acute medical care, emergency shelter or in the worst case scenario, the criminal justice system. @drandrewb @AMOPolicy

The paradox of health care spending: a $400 air conditioner can help prevent a $15,000 hospital admission for heart failure or heat stroke in the summer.

The most common form of gender affirming care in the U.S. is surgery for cisgender boys with gynecomastia
These three women said today that children should be able to get their body parts chopped off and be chemically castrated and stunt their growth. Evil. Liberal women are destroying our country.

Ford is looking for every excuse to blame judges and stack the courts when it’s his chronic underfunding of Ontario’s justice system that is the real problem. The Auditor General reports over 80% of people in corrections are awaiting trial. Bail is forced when provincial jails are overcrowded (3-4 inmates to a cell), and the underfunded justice system means less resources for contested hearings. #ONpoli cp24.com/news/2025/06/17/dou…

Years ago, my mother went to a neurologist bc of headaches & trouble w her eye. told her it was anxiety & told her to see a psychiatrist. 2nd, 3rd, 4th opinion, same thing. Not one ran a single test. Her ophthalmologist (our neighbor) took her seriously. He found a brain tumor.
I don’t think you people understand how dangerous medical misogyny is!

Today, we mourn. Tomorrow, we rise. #Bill5 just passed in Ontario. ✅ The Endangered Species Act? Repealed. ✅ Environmental assessments? Gone. ✅ Indigenous consent? Ignored. ✅ Public input? Erased. And @fordnation? He didn’t even bother to show up for the vote. #onpoli

Why don't people understand the damage that is done merely by normalizing terrible ideas and policies? Stop rationalizing everything. Think about what happens when someone worse gets into power if things have been normalized for them.

My op-ed for @TorontoStar: when it comes to encampments, @fordnation is looking south of the border when he should be looking west. Ontario is importing failed American policies to punish homelessness, while Manitoba is doing what works: housing people. thestar.com/opinion/contribu…

1,383 confirmed or probable cases of measles in Ontario now, up from 567 a month ago. A 240% increase. While this government hallucinates about a tunnel under the 401, we have a serious outbreak that it has done nothing to contain. theglobeandmail.com/opinion/…

While I’m glad to see this directive, I urge the Minister to take his own advice. I’m concerned with reports the Ford government is planning to greenlight an American-designed Small Modular Reactor (SMR) in Darlington, which would make Ontario and Canada more reliant on U.S. suppliers. On top of this, the Ford government’s ramping up of gas plants makes Ontario more dependent on fracked gas from the US. It’s time for Ontario to take the important next step in securing energy independence and invest in low-cost renewable energy sources that don't rely on US inputs.

In response to Trump's unjustified tariffs, Ontario is standing up for Canadian workers. I’ve written to the leaders of Ontario’s utilities asking them to follow our example — to buy Canadian and find alternatives for U.S. suppliers wherever possible. Read my full letter ⬇️
