While I’m glad to see this directive, I urge the Minister to take his own advice.
I’m concerned with reports the Ford government is planning to greenlight an American-designed Small Modular Reactor (SMR) in Darlington, which would make Ontario and Canada more reliant on U.S. suppliers.
On top of this, the Ford government’s ramping up of gas plants makes Ontario more dependent on fracked gas from the US.
It’s time for Ontario to take the important next step in securing energy independence and invest in low-cost renewable energy sources that don't rely on US inputs.
In response to Trump's unjustified tariffs, Ontario is standing up for Canadian workers.
I’ve written to the leaders of Ontario’s utilities asking them to follow our example — to buy Canadian and find alternatives for U.S. suppliers wherever possible.
