Hi, Donald. Midcoast Mainer here.   You did not, in fact, “have to go to Japan” to get a Maine lobster before you. We sold millions. Our lobster fishery is one of the most valuable in the U.S.   It’s a big reason why people come here, in case you didn’t know!   If anything is hurting our lobstermen, it’s inflation (which you apparently “love”).   Also, exactly *zero* Maine fishermen run their boats at three knots. More like 30 knots—and some go even faster. You should check out a lobster boat race sometime!   I think it might be time for one of your famous Oval Office naps, because you have ZERO idea what you’re talking about.
Trump lies that before he came around, "you had go to Japan to get a Maine lobster"

Excuse me? Yes, he just called all working people "peasants".
Trump may as well have called the rest of us peasants. According to him, it wasn’t workers who built America. It was rich guys like him and his cabinet: “These people built the country, not the complainers. The complainers didn’t build the country…. Whether it’s fishermen or farmers or anything else. Me. Guys like me, they built the country. And you know, I watch all these ingrates, they’re always complaining, complaining. They didn’t build anything, they couldn’t build anything.”

I’ve been thinking a lot about the extraordinary outbursts of the President of the United States against female journalists... well, actually against journalists in general and journalism. But it feels like he saves his most childlike behavior and irrational language for female reporters, calling them all kinds of names that kids in kindergarten are given times out for. It’s stunning to me to witness such behavior from any leader, any CEO, any person of influence or importance. I’ve never witnessed someone like this raging, this weekend with @meetthepress host @kwelkernbc, just last week in the Oval Office with @cnn’s @kaitlancollins, calling women stupid or piggy, telling them to “smile”, calling them darling, demeaning their credibility. Every good man should denounce this behavior. Every person should be able to stand up for their colleagues and say “No more.” Imagine this man screaming like this at your daughter, your wife, your sister, your mother... would you stand for it? No, you wouldn’t! And neither should any of us. It’s unacceptable and undignified. Period. End of story.

Apparently Canada is so terrible that; We have one of the highest net migration rates in the developed world. People are lining up, sometimes for years, just for the chance to live here. Every year, tens of thousands of people sell everything they own, leave their families behind, and cross oceans to build a life in this country. But sure. Tell me again how unlivable it is. Is Canada perfect? No. Housing costs are brutal. Affordability is a real crisis. Those are legitimate conversations worth having. But there’s a difference between criticizing a country to make it better and performing hatred of it for engagement. If you genuinely, deeply hate Canada, that’s actually okay. Not every place is for every person. There are countries with lower taxes, warmer weather, cheaper housing, looser regulations. Go explore them. Seriously. But if you’re staying here, collecting the healthcare, cashing the paycheques, and using the infrastructure while telling everyone this country is garbage? That’s not a political position, it’s just bad faith. Canada has real problems. It also has people, who love this country, working every single day to fix them. Pick a lane.

False. No passport. No armed forces. No health care system. No pensions. No OAS. No CPP. No disability benefits. No EI. No consular support. No student aid. No federal policing. No banking system protection. No free mobility. No constitutional rights. You're alone.
Alberta Independence doesn’t mean losing your Canadian passport. It means having two: Canadian & Albertan.

Canada’s Aluminium Is Going to Europe. Brilliant Work, Donald. A 50% tariff on Canadian aluminium, the one country on Earth that was happily selling the stuff at sensible prices, right next door, through an integrated supply chain that took decades to build. And now that aluminium is sailing across the Atlantic to Europe instead. Canadian exports to the EU went from near zero to between 6% and 40% of monthly totals in the space of a year. Just vanished eastward. Extraordinary result. US consumers are now paying $6,200 a ton for aluminium. Europeans are paying $4,300. American manufacturers taxed nearly two thousand dollars a ton more than their competitors. For beer cans. And car parts. And buildings. Tremendous. Nobody could have seen that coming, except everyone. Meanwhile Europe, which was already scrambling after losing its Middle Eastern supply to the Iran war, now faces a 5.6 million-ton aluminium deficit in 2026. And Canada just filled it. With metal that used to go to America. The head of the Aluminium Association of Canada put it with admirable restraint: the EU option “remains attractive,” adding pressure on the US market. What he meant was: Washington handed Europe a competitive advantage in manufacturing while American industry pays the bill. This is what happens when a trade guru who has spent his career slapping his name on buildings in gold letters decides he understands global commodity flows. No leverage materialises. Just an empty dock in Ohio and a very pleased purchasing manager in Rotterdam. Well done, Donald. Gandalv / @Microinteracti1

Now we’re going to give Iran $300 BILLION? Hell, at this point, if they hold out another week or so, we might give them an even trillion.

Let’s finally put this tired MAGA fantasy to rest: the U.S. has never militarily protected Canada — not once, not ever. Canada has never been invaded by a foreign power in modern history, and we have certainly never asked the U.S. to ride in like some self-appointed saviour. In fact, the only time American troops showed up on our soil in force was during the War of 1812 (Confederation wasn't even born yet) — when they tried to invade and conquer us and got their asses handed to them by a militia, First Nations warriors, and British forces. The colonies defended themselves. And, furthermore to facts, NORAD is a joint defense partnership, NOT American charity. Yet the MAGA base keeps repeating this crap that “if it wasn’t for us, Canada would be gone.” No. We never begged for your protection, we never needed it, and we sure as hell don’t owe you for a fantasy scenario that exists only in your heads. Canada stands on its own. Always has. 🇨🇦 #canpoli

The GOP isn’t smarter than this 10-year-old. Last week while taking our grandson to school, stuck in traffic, a news report about Trump came on the radio. My wife and I barely noticed it – until our grandson quietly said, “I don’t like Donald Trump.” My wife turned and gently asked, “Why, honey?” Without even looking up from his tablet, he said: “Because he’s not kind to people.” That’s it. That’s the whole thing. A 10-year-old understood in one sentence what an entire political party keeps pretending not to see.

“WE NEED TO LET THEM DO INSIDER TRADING TO FEED THEIR FAMILIES” That was the actual argument just made in defense of politicians trading stocks. Members of Congress make $174,000 a year. The median American income is roughly $63,000. (3x less) Meanwhile the federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour… also unchanged since 2009. And you’re seriously being told politicians need access to insider trading to survive. The system is designed to lead earth to neo-feudalism. And it’s becoming more brazen by the year. Asset ownership consolidates upward. Living standards decline downward. The middle class gets squeezed from both ends and disappears while the elite class accumulates more wealth, more influence, and more protection. Leaving behind a permanent underclass. And a permanent political-financial aristocracy at the top…

Let’s clear something up about MAID in Canada. It does not apply to children. You must be 18 or older. Mature minors do not qualify. Full stop. It does not apply to people simply because they are poor or struggling. To be eligible, you must have a serious and incurable illness, disease or disability, be in an advanced state of irreversible decline, and be experiencing intolerable suffering that cannot be relieved in any way you find acceptable. Financial hardship alone is not a criterion. It is not a rubber stamp. Approval requires assessments by two independent practitioners who review your medical records and confirm you have seriously considered available treatment options. When death is not reasonably foreseeable, a minimum 90-day assessment period is required. People whose only medical condition is a mental illness are not currently eligible either, that eligibility has been postponed to March 2027 while further safeguards are studied. You can have moral or religious objections to assisted dying. That is a legitimate position held by a lot of Canadians. But spreading misinformation about what the law actually says is not an argument. It is just fearmongering. Know wtf you are talking about before you talk about it.
